Why do some men feel driven to deadlift 750 when it has no functional value in today's society?
People are different.

what are you looking to get your bench to?

I'm actually working on reducing muscle mass and fat, because I recently found a love for hiking and backpacking. There's no reason to be 225 out in the wilderness when 185-190 will benefit me more.

I am a slow gainer. I have a hard time adding muscle mass, just reality. when I was seeing a personal trainer, I got stronger but I didn't really show much in terms of additional muscles. Sucks but that is how it is.
Plus side, is I can eat like shite and not gain weight.

Can run a 4:20 mile don't care

I'm going from less reps more weight to less weight more reps and doing a lot more jump roping/running/hiking. That's going to reduce my muscle mass by default, correct? I'm not arguing I am body builder or anything, but what I said wasn't functionally inaccurate and I didn't try to portray myself as Jay Cutler.

Someone should tell the long-living Japanese that they are doing it wrong.

Hey SabiDojo, more questions about one armed pullup training: How many weighted pull ups were you doing per week? Were there any other pertinent exercises you were doing?

Well, it depended on my mood. Lots of days I would put on the vest or weight and just see how many I could rip off. With a 20 pound vest, a good outing would be over 20.
Sets? 3 to 5 sets, ranging from 10 to 15. Once a week. If you can do twice, okay. I didn't.
Did more exercises that focused on my lats, too. Do lots of really wide grip pullups. Go slow up and down. Really just let the back do all the work.
What I did forget to mention was Lester gave me some tips on how to increase my grip strength. This was probably the most important thing.
So, just hang from the bar as long as you can. Do Farmer's Walks. Anything that would increase your grip strength. Forearm exercises. All that stuff.

Yep, this is me as well. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week and eat roughly 3,000 calories a day. I have better muscle definition, but after 3 or 4 months of this routine I may have gained 1lb. Just how I'm wired I guess.

i dont know your body composition but ive never heard someone trying to reduce muscle mass when training for a physical activity.
but the way you worded it was if you were not going to lift anything at all.
training for strength is never bad. Adding muscle increases your metabolism
if you are an overweight 225, then eating clean and lifting heavy is going to drop pounds. the other stuff will work to if you want a frailer runners body.
