If I had roadside assistance, I'd definitely call them to change a tire. I can change it just fine, I've done so in the past 2 months, but I don't enjoy it. I wouldn't pay out of pocket though.

I pay like $4 a month for roadside assistance that covers all that

I called State Farm roadside assistance on the way home from Gulf Shores. Alternator went out about 1 hour north of Mobile. They advised someone would be there to assist me in about 6 hours. I hitched hiked 50 miles round trip to get the alternator and fixed it myself in under 4 hours.

Car wouldn't start other day so I did a bit of research. Found out the RCM might be damaged so I figured out where it was and took it apart. Played around with it for a bit and boom car starts. I later saw stories where people had the same issue, and their car would be stuck in the shop for months because the mechanics couldn't figure out what was wrong yet I figured out my issue in 10 minutes.

One of my buddies is exactly the same way. I've offered to help him change batteries, tires, breaks and oil and every damn time it's "uhhh, naw man, it's cool. I rather bring it to the Honda place and get a certified technician to do it". I'm like..."congrats on bill bro". I'm not a mechanic by any means but there is not much on a vehicle I can't do myself outside of transmission and engine issues and I've never had a problem with any of the work I've performed. I've actually learned how to do most of it from YouTube videos.
