Because people are scared, stressed and uncertain about the future. Breaking routine and the regularly scheduled programming is very hard for many people to adapt to. So they become enraged and try to find a boogie man to kill for their current circumstances.

We haven’t figured out this social media way of communicating. It’s not natural and brings out the worst in us.

They don't realize why they're here. Therefore, they think everything is about them by default, and they're continually disappointed.

The world moves too fast. This technological terror we have created is driving many people nuts. There is 24 hour everything. Everything you want to know just Google it. I’ve had people tell me they feel more alone now than ever. Rarely do people pick up the phone and talk they communicate via email or text.

There are no middle ground moderates anymore. It’s either you feel this way or 100% the other way and meet up at the Sonic to settle it. But instead of knuckles they are bringing artillery to the fight.

I bet 75% of the black kids are raised by their mother or grandmother. They need a man in their lives many times not a woman all the time.

I make double what I made in the early 2000’s and I honestly feel like I make less money now than way back then and no I don’t own a F250 and a $100,000 boat.

Right now if the information comes from any source shaped like a rectangle, it is enraging people.

Talk to people. Converse with people one on one. You’ll find out there’s a hell of a lot more things you can agree on than disagree. But be cautious if they just got done watching one of those so-called news networks their level of belligerency will be directly proportional to which alphabets were used in its name.

Hormone mimickers in the environment are rendering men impotent and feminized, leading to extreme frustration.

I’m probably over simplifying, but I think every fricking bit of it circles back to social media.

Economy was extremely strong prior to COVID. More poor people entered middle class and more middle class acquired net wealth since the late 40s/early 50s. It came to an abrupt end. People get scared when things like that occur. Dems made a 180 in the 4 weeks between Jan 30 and March 1 on COVID. Look up the various Op Ed pieces in the national newspapers and the stories about Chinese New Year. Every single one of them written in late January/early February criticize the president for overreacting to the virus. Fast forward approximately four weeks and those same newspapers and politicians realized that they could use the virus to blame the president in an attempt to put a face on the cause of the fear. Mix in the George Floyd Death and now you have an opportunity to create panic/chaos. The reality is that the statistics prove we handled this virus well and that common sense measures (wearing masks and cleaning your hands) works. Same with statistics on LEO shootings. The spin doctors, however, don’t want you to focus on facts and statistics. They continue to feed you pain, misery, violence and chaos in hope that you attach the President’s face to the cause. I am will to bet anyone a large amount of money that if Trump loses, within 2 weeks of inauguration the media stories and op ed pieces on COVID/BLM movement drop by over 50 %. Likewise , I also bet thy within that same time period the civil unrest dramatically decreases, as do the COVID restrictions. Make no mistake about it, opportunists have used two events to “stir the pot” during an election year.

The media has created a race/class war and this is the result of it.

Too much information. We can't process it all.

So what do we do? We only obtain information that affirms our already held beliefs, which in turn causes us to seek other that believe like us, which further creates tribalism.

The more tribal we are, the more angry/violent we are.

Just look through history.

In short, we are happier when we are ignorant of all the bad things happening around us. We were not meant to try and process every bad thing happening in the world at all times.

Because they are losers who actually believe that the path to happiness is being given things instead of earning them.

They never encounter that basic human endorphin shot that comes from being a hunter/gatherer and finding that fig tree or shooting that boar to help feed the tribe. Making that real estate deal or growing that field of corn.

They float through life in meaningless jobs, wondering why life sucks.

The rest of us are too busy being American to slow down and teach them, so we just work harder to drag them along behind us.

Studies are a mixed bag at this point given the newness of social media. There was a longitudinal study that came out in March that said they didn't see correlation between accessing social media itself and mental health, but it was an 8-year study and honestly it's only been a couple of years that social media was really widely spread among a myriad of people beyond just 20 year olds.

That said, there is a correlation between screen time in general and increased anxiety and depression. Especially for adolescents.

blaming everything on social media and the media in general is such low hanging fruit

it annoys me to no end when people do it, but I'm generally all by myself when I argue against it
