It's because political correctness has caused a bunch of people to be offended pussies. History is one of the countless items on the list that offends these low life pussies.

In this country specifically, slavery was a pretty contested institution since its inception.

So even people of yesteryear knew slavery was evil? That's why we have to destroy the false idolship of white supremacy.its not only a refutation of the individuals but a refutation of the society that approved of slavery, Jim crow and nod and wink racism.

Hell, ten years ago most of these places being renamed or torn down were acceptable.

3 months ago liberals laughed at you if you suggested they would start renaming stuff like this, now here we are and the fricking gator chomp is deemed racist.

I can name literally thousands of other peoples who no longer exist [/quote]

Ok, go ahead. Literally. Name 1000 different peoples/cultures that no longer exist. Don’t use google or Wikipedia, tough guy.

Short answer is a certain population can’t adapt to western civilization so they need to make excuses for their failures and demonize great men that created the society they enjoy today.

what about all the blacks that owned slaves in louisiana, or the ones that sold em in africa?

anyone with any prominent status the world over owned slaves. slavery was a global economic tool and is still practiced in asia, africa and the middle east.

whitey was the first race to free slaves, also the last to hop on the train.

slavery is as old as history itself. mankind's existence has been extremely brutal, especially by 21st century american standards.

may as well tear every statue in the world down.

facts
logic
statistics
reality

none of that matters in today's America.

This begs the question, “what is evil”?

Is conquest evil? Or simply the natural state of man. Man, from his dawn, has subjugated man. Bent him to his will. Surrender or face the sword.
The subjugation today might not bear the hallmarks of shackles and chains but it exists no less.

Ah the ole “different times” excuse. They knew it was wrong.

Who’s the arbitrator here? Is it based on skin tone, ethnicity, religion? What’s the abridged timeline for everyone’s moral outrage 150, 300, 500, 1500 years or the complete written history of mankind? Who you gonna be pissed off at & hold a 1000 year grudge? Tribal African’s captured & sold other tribal Africans to Arab slave traders who in turn sold them to Europeans bound for colonies in the new world. White Europeans sold other white Europeans since the time of the Roman Empire hence the term Slav(Yugoslavia/Czechoslovakia & other Slavic nations). The Chinese & Japanese dynasties have held other orientals, particularly the Koreans as slaves for the better part of two milenia. So as I see it we only have two options get over being butthurt, learn from the past, & strive for a better future for everyone’s children or blow it all fricking up, end mankind, our history is so poisonous we can’t bear to stare it in the face.

For the dozenth time in the thread, its ok to judge people based on their full character. You can glorify and act like some people had no faults if you want to, but that's stupid. Same can be done with abolitionist or any other person. As soon as Martin Luther King is brought up a poster is going to bring up his checkered past, but God forbid you do that with Raphael fricking Semmes who had 100x less impact on the world.

Its OK to admit you feel this way because your Republican in name only overlords tell you to by the way.

The people with weak minds are the ones that, one, can't see the hypocrisy of this thread, and two can't establish nuance and see both sides of a given issue.

Are you equally upset at those Africans that sold their own people around the world as slaves?

Kudos. I’m searching for threads on Reparations from African countries, destruction on iconography that exists for these countries within ours and the protests at their embassies.

Haven’t found them yet. Obviously I am using the wrong Key Words.
