Because insurance companies are in the business of taking as much of your money as they can and then paying as little as possible when you need them.
Their underwriting profitability is capped...

someone with a 15+yo car is paying to share the burden with people who have newer cars. That's something that needs to get figured out or the poor will keep avoiding it.
This is something to consider too. Cars have gotten so expensive its starting to be unreasonable to ask someone who works at walmart driving a 3k shitbox to carry enough insurance to cover them hitting a 100k truck.
To use an extreme example, if everyone else starting driving Lamborghinis and you were forced to insure your 30k car against tapping one on the bumper with a 80k repair bill. The risk of driving an expensive vehicle on public roads should mostly fall on the the owner.

It is simply the cost of inflation. Repairing autos depends on a broad spectrum of the market and everything is at least 25% higher in cost including labor

No claims, no tickets, nothing negative. What gives?
1) Americans are litigious. Insurance is intended to make you whole, not provide you a payday. Tort reform is needed badly.
2) Underinsured/Uninsured motorists.
3) People make frivolous claims.
4) Cars are more expensive to repair.

Because too many people got Gordon and got it done is one reason. Other reasons are components on automobiles have become incredibly expensive to repair or replace.

Why are my auto insurance premiums shooting up?

Wait till you are with SF for a while and then shop around.... we saved $$$ after they dropped our homeowners so I dropped their auto coverage (Post Hurricane Ivan in NWFL -no damage).
