I’m not really in the market for a new vehicle at the moment , but have been taking a look around just to see what’s out there when i’m ready to buy in a year or two.. I’ve mostly been looking at Grand Cherokees and Expeditions, but when you take a look at sites like Carmax and other sites that sell ‘gently used’ vehicles (i like to buy cars that are 2-3 yrs old w/30-40k mi to let others take the depreciation hit) it seems like 90% of the newer vehicles (2016-2019) only come with black interiors, whether leather or cloth.. Most car makers’ sites allow you to build a model with lighter interior , but i dont want to buy new.. Black interiors get really hot in the South, and i feel like i’m sitting in a cave.. Anyone else notice this trend?

Probably why people would get rid of a car in less than 3 years.

No clue but that all I see also. Looking for a new vehicle for the wife and no light interiors to be found. I don’t get it. It would be brutal anywhere in the south.

I thought the same when I bought my truck but I don’t notice that it makes any difference. It’s been 5 years and not once have I got in and thought about the black being any hotter than what a lighter interior would be. I mean, as hot as it gets here, does a few degrees really matter?

Darker interior is cheaper than tan interior. Doesn't make sense but tan or lighter interiors always to seem to be part of a package or some other "upgrade".

You are way behind the trends.

Luxury cars have moved towards black or a shade of brown. Beige and gray aren’t popular.

Same reason every frickin' gun or computer you look at is black nowadays. It's "elegant." Everyone thinks he's Mr. UN Diplomat driving around Manhattan with his black everything... or maybe they're all Neo.

Stupid as the day is long in my opinion. I'll gladly be the last man on Earth with beige upholstery and a walnut rifle stock.

What fantasy world do you live in? This is no where near true.

Huh? Why would i fantasize about a world in which most newer cars only come with an interior color i dont like?

Look around, take a look at the sites i mentioned, apparently others in this thread have noticed it as well.. A few years ago, lots of late model cars were available with gray, or tan interiors, or even that cool baseball-glove shade of ‘Saddle’ that’s becoming increasingly hard to find.. Now almost everything is black.

To be clear, i have nothing against black, some things look great in black, i have some black clothes, used to have a black leather couch when i was single (no i didnt run Backroom Casting), i even have a black freaking Sonicare toothbrush.. but for vehicle interiors in the South, black is a no-go for me.

Same reason the majority of the exterior colors are white, silver, black...it’s what people want.

I had dark red interior in high school. Was absolute hell getting into that car after it had been sitting in the school parking lot all day
