What the frick is this retarded arse shite rumor? Where did you hear that from?

To answer your question, I think in my personal opinion that earth’s warming cycle we’re presently experiencing is playing a role as well as advancements in technology that allow us to know more details about hurricanes. I do not believe in man-made global warming but I firmly believe in natural global cycles that have been scientifically proven by core samples across the globe as well as along the coastline. Category four and five hurricanes are not new to earth, only to those presently alive on earth.

jesus some peoples children......its liek you cant read you stupid frick. he didnt say there were more cat 4 hurricanes like a liberal would, he said % wise, more are making landfall and asked a simple question and provided data to back it up and also provided the data to show it not to be the case for cat 3 & 5s.
so how the frick does that make someone who is pretty well known for being a successful businessman and conservative suddenly a liberal?

I presume that storms are actually intelligent life and are getting better at this. Our only hope is that we all bump up our thermostats to 80 during the summer!

From 2001 until 2022, 32 Category 4 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 13 have made USA landfall
From 1976 until 2000, 7 Category 5 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 1 made USA landfall
From 2001 until 2022, 14 Category 5 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 1 made USA landfall
OMG!! You might be on to something because 21 and 24 year time frames is a HUGE time period in the earths History!!!

because nature is sick of the shite going on in this country.

Did the definitions of the categories change at all? No.
It seems that they have. I don't think it accounts for the change in number of storms, but it changed.
quote:
In 2009, the NHC made moves to eliminate pressure and storm surge ranges from the categories, transforming it into a pure wind scale, called the Saffir–Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (Experimental) [SSHWS].
quote:
In 2012, the NHC expanded the windspeed range for Category 4 by 1 mph in both directions, to 130–156 mph, with corresponding changes in the other units (113–136 kn, 209–251 km/h), instead of 131–155 mph (114–135 kn, 210–249 km/h).
quote:
The new scale became operational on May 15, 2012.

Category criteria has changed from Barometric pressure to wind speed.

This^ The cycles were/are hijacked and twisted into manmade by a group for political and financial gain.

I mean it is important to put it into perspective. This time frame here is a drop in the bucket compared to weather history on the planet
There is no real way of knowing if what is happening with these peaks and valleys is unusual or just par for the course for hurricanes
I would venture to say there was a point in time where hurricanes that make katrina look like a puff of wind were making landfall regularly, probably well before the continents sit as they are today though
It's hard for humans to put things into perspective because we like to look at things relative to humanity's existence and life cycle which is miniscule in comparison to the things they are trying to understand

That's really all I was trying to point out. It's an interesting thing that only Cat 4s storms are the outlier

I could have sworn at one time a cat 5 was 155 and greater but now they say 157

Randomness
Interesting how this hurricane was named Ian, as in Ian Malcolm?
Or is that just random chance?

Not much change in the number of Cat 4 storms but a huge change in how many are reaching the USA.
Seems like a pretty significant change in the # of cat 4 storms in general
Unless you think a 25% increase is somehow statistically insignificant (and you're looking at 3 less years for your comparison)
