likely the main reason.

Making drugs readily available to the public increases the likelihood that criminals will use that abundant supply to sell to new markets - namely adults under 21 and children.
Making prostitution legal would increase the likelihood that women are forced into the trade as sex slaves, or because they believe it to be there only option, or because it just happens to be the easiest option.
This is actually backwards. Women are forced into the sex trade now and it is illegal. Drugs are readily available to the public now. Legalizing it all would only reduce the people in prison and the tax money it takes to maintain the prison-industrial complex. Legalizing would also bring in loads of tax money for programs that are dedicated to helping people get off of drugs.

Drugs and prostitution often are accompanied by other criminal activity and by health issues.
So you can arrest criminals for those other criminal activities. And i've already addressed health issues.
Crack is far less of a health problem in this country than McDonalds, fried food, smoking, etc....
To use the logic in this thread:

So is poverty. Do you want to arrest all the poor just because some of them might commit a crime?

perhaps through something like an ingredients list and nutritional information?
you can thank the gov't for that
do you think a food market would stay in business long in America if it sold dangerous food at any sort of rate above "rare"?
and that food nutritional label is a victim of crony capitalism (go look for your daily % of sugar on a government-mandated food label) but also there are private options. a good example is the GMO certificates from private organizations that food producers are not mandated to utilize. the private market finds a way, as usual.

The govt hates industries goods it can't regulate

Prostitution is legal. You just have to videotape it and make the recording available to people over the age of 18.

Old traditions being supported by old people.
They'll be dead soon. Looking forward to a complete turnaround in about 20 years

The only reason they can't regulate it is because it's illegal. If you could buy pot at a convenience store instead of some shady guys apartment I'm sure you would.

That's more because the activity itself is illegal. In countries where it is a legal and protected form of commerce, they generally do pay taxes.
For example, in Amsterdam if you are a hooker or a weed dealer, you pay taxes and in return you're entitled to police protection from theft and such, just like any other retail business.

What an original thought
Right, because a crack head has never hurt someone else. Only themselves.
It's not like people on bath salts have eaten other peoples faces off or people on PCP have gone on killing sprees.
I can't say why prostitution illegal because I think it's silly that it is but acting like legalizing dangerous drugs won't potentially hurt innocent people is naive.
There's also the health issues of having to help those people once they do that much harm to their bodies. Why should that burden fall on charity hospitals and tax payers?

That's one of the main reasons TO legalize it.
That and protecting the women and reducing human trafficking.
I think you're missing my point. Thats a reason why its illegal

Hell prositution is the oldest trade.

Because underage kids procuring alcohol has been such a blight on society...

No, it would actually decrease the likelyhood since it would be more reguilated and the customers would be more willing to step forward about abused hookers.

I know libfemnazis don't like to hear this, but many, many women are only fit for reproducing/serving the needs of men.

Right because it's so impossible for minors to get smokes and beer.

Marijuana is a small easily regulated portion of the drug industry
