Why are Baton Rouge hotels so shitty?

I’ve stayed in the Marriot and Embassy Suites. These are by far the worse of either chain I’ve stayed in other cities. Both feel like a patched together LaQuinta.
Sorry for the rant, but I grew up here and coming back occasionally, this city is complete shite.

To be fair, I recently stayed at a Hampton Inn in Austin, and it wasn't that great either.

I stayed at one in Austin and one in Phoenix in the last month and although I thought the facilities were fine, the staff sucked.
In Phoenix we got in off of a red eye flight and hadn't slept the night before, had a 6 hour window to get some sleep before arriving at our event, and housekeeping woke us up twice and the front desk called to ask who we were because they checked us in wrong, then charged my card $300 which took a week to get taken off.
Labor and employment issues are really affecting the quality of services everywhere. Half of the people we interacted with looked like tatted up ex-cons.

I would check out the Renaissance on Bluebonnet, it's a pretty nice place as far as BR hotels go. I only stay here now after learning my lesson with a few others.

One summer I took a class at BRCC while in college. Me and this other dude road together and we used to do stupid shite just fricking around. One day we passed the Alamo and he calls it up and ask which room was Davy Crockett in, the girl said hold on.. Evidently her heard the girl ask someone "they want to know what room some man named Davy Crockett is in". He put it on speaker right after then they hung up the phone.
A few days later I called and ask the same question and the girl (who I assume was black) said "stop calling with that stupid shite"...

Because the entire city o Baton Rouge is shitty. Some dude on here actually posted about how Baton Rouge is a much better city than Orlando, FL - okaaaay
