I always laugh when the OT compares some suburban school in another state to inner city schools in Louisiana.

Yeah. These threads are always awful. There is blatant idiocy from all angles. People questioning the public school versus Newman guy are the same types spewing about how the New Orleans food scene is appreciably better and Houston sucks because New Orleans has oodles more going on.

I don't know. I'm sure some of them are pretty good.
But you definitely don't need to spend 40K a year in property taxes anywhere in TX unless you're in an obscenely stupid house

40K in property taxes? holy crap.
Please talk to some of the teachers at some of the good ISD schools in suburbs of Houston. Ask how many from LA get tutors from public and private.
Don't really understand the hate for Houston considering how many prominent OT posters from 10 years ago that were living in Baton Rouge now live in TX.

I've lived in Houston.
It has some admirable qualities that I appreciate, but I don't really care for it. It's a disaster-prone sprawling mess of suburb after suburb that's uninhabitable during the summer.
The food is legit and the people are nice. But I still don't like it very much.

You can spend $40,000 a year to send your kid to an elite private school in NOLA
What school in New Orleans has tuitions of $40k a year?

or spend the same in Houston on property taxes, live in your mansion and your kid gets the same if not better education in a public school.
$40k in property taxes? Damn

Houston is an awful place. I’ve lived there twice and had to peel myself away because I hated it.
It’s dirty it’s ugly it’s overpopulated it’s not friendly its overpriced.
Everyone is there for work. No one is there because they love the city.

That’s pretty much what everyone has been saying in this thread,
Except for Owlfan, Louie T, Rouge and NIH
They love the city

What's amusing to me is that probably only 5% of this thread actually lives in Houston or New Orleans.
Living in a suburb 30-45 minutes away from the actual city is not living in the city.
Katy is textbook suburbia.

Glad that's what your barely functioning brain has gathered from what I've said.

I actually know they are.

Country Day, my wife's high school has close to that.
No income tax, lower sales taxes easily make up for it. WAYYYYY better schools
My wife and son (her step son) compared quality of classes. Memorial H.S. education beat CD hands down and offered more.

Nope. Neither country day or ASH are $40k a year.

The last time we did this thread, we learned that one poster hated Houston because he spent a weekend with his cousin in Pasadena.

You sure are a sensitive little fella aren’t you?
We get it. You’re stuck in Houston and have to remind yourself everyday how much you love it.
