Nevermind then. It’s a great watch.

I have a fossil watch that my dad wore everyday nearly 20 years ago. The watch is crap but I wear it here and there because it was his.

Do you live in Greenville? Only ask bc I saw someone here wearing that AP Offshore at a restaurant and commented.

That collection is nuts

When I started reading I was like HOLEEE shite someone knows me, but no. It is really bizarre because our primary home is in the upstate of SC but unless it has been several years and I have forgotten nobody has mentioned the Forged Carbon Offshore and to 99.9% off people it looks like a Walmart watch so I would likely remember.

Have a Merry Christmas if you are in Greenville it looks to be 30 degrees cooler than here in LA so more appropriate for the season.

Have two- a Submariner date and a blue face Yachtmaster and gave a third (a Datejust) to my brother. I won all three for sales performance. The Sub is my daily wear and I wear the Yachtmaster once or twice a year. Great watches.

No, because everyone has one... especially the Sub.

Quality timepiece, to each his own.

Everyone? I’ve gone years without seeing someone with a watch more expensive than a Hamilton. Last watch I saw was a Omega planet ocean which was 8 years ago.

1989 Sub
2010 Sub
50th anniversary Sub
Vintage datejust
Newer stainless datejust
Casio G Shock Rangeman
Casio G Shock circa 2003ish

Circa 2003 G Shock is hands down the best of the group. It spent one winter buried in snow and not found until Spring/Summer and never missed a beat.

Maybe in Central, when I lived in BR they were not uncommon at all.

Rolex is the the first luxury brand watch people purchase.

I work downtown BR

But I don’t disagree about it’s the first brand people think about when they feel they’ve “made it”

It’s just advertisement and the cost of the watch went up because of that.

I have a 1997 Sea Dweller. My parents, grandparents and aunt all pitched in and got it for my college graduation. I graduated in it, got married in it, 2 sons born while wearing it, all my grandparents buried while wearing it, many professional accomplishments with it on. Was $3k new, could sell for a good bit more now but those times are what it's all about and will never sell it.
I also have a PAM 111 and a Omega PO chronograph. I wear those sparingly and most of the time I wear my apple watch lol. I was lucky enough to buy a Batman GMT and a 43mm new Sea Dweller at retail when they first came out but wound up flipping them for a small profit. I look at new watches allllll the time but just usually end up being happy with what I have.

I've got a 40 year Oyster Perpetual that was passed down from my Dad and will be passed on to my oldest son. I've quit wearing it for my wife and kid's sake. They don't want me getting robbed because of it. I'm wearing an inexpensive Victorinox Swiss Army watch now, arund $200. It keeps better time than my Rolex ever did.

That's funny, mine says, "I can buy a watch that will last a lifetime, take a beating, look good and tell time".

Date Just (Gold and Silver, pinstripe Dial, Jubilee Bracelet, nothing fancy).

ETA: Except my wife just got me a Fitbit...… So maybe the Rolex will come off for the first time in ten years.
