It's also not something that should put between 20-30 million Americans out of work.
It didn't need to be. People are ignorant and stubborn.

So now worrying about how you're going to provide for your family is being a selfish a-hole?
You're one fricked up individual if you truly believe this.

He's the radical side of the coin. He calls me a sick human being for "shrugging off" 38,000 dead but fails to grasp how 20-30 million Americans unemployed could quickly lead to a similar or far greater death count.

That isn't what I said. If you treat 38k deaths as no big deal because you can't provide for your family, you're a selfish a-hole.

You're an idiot if you really made that connection from my post.

And I know you were never right
I'll admit I was never wrong
I could never make up my mind
I made it up as I went along

Go back and read this again real slow. Because there's only one way to parse this in the English language, and that is you are a selfish a-hole if you are more worried about providing for your family than worrying about 38k deaths.

I think I predicted that there would be less than 10k deaths in the US
so yeah, I was wrong

I've said from the beginning this thing wasn't worth shutting down the whole economy over. And, as Jeff Goldblum famously said in one of our all-time favorite movies:
you also said less than 100 people in the US would die
calm down with the self congratulations

I had no idea what would happen,I just hoped for the best and knew our country could handle the adversity as we always have.
This board is not indicative of what I see from people every day.
Most folks aren't dwelling on taking sides, they are concerned and willing to do what it takes to get past this.

Sure. Let's do that.

38k and counting isn't something that normal people just shrug off.
That was hard.

Meh. Nobody's perfect. But the spirit of what I said is still accurate. Whether the number is 100 or 100,000...there was absolutely no reason for us to cut off our heads to cure a nosebleed.
Still...I was obviously wrong about the death toll.

Yea I had the same thought. In my defense at the time there was probably only a 6,000 deathcount worldwide (China lied, I know that now) and like 30 deaths in the U.S. I thought this was just a huge overreaction as it was yet another Swine Flu/Ebola situation.
