Good buddy is headed down today. If y'all see a mid 50s bald man rolling his dick off in the Quarter, please keep him away from valets - last time, he ended up accidentally driving around valeted cars.

what's his phone number? may need a ride and will likely be broke.

Even if I was young and still chasing hot arse poon everywhere, I would 't be caught dead down there. Not until they control the crime.

You live in Baton Rouge, fella. Cool your jets.

The inferiority complex that some BR people have towards New Orleans can only be rivaled by Mobile people.

Baton Rouge is a midsize city with big city problems. It has all of the same problems, many of them significantly worse, and yet it has none of the charm, or draw.

Baton Rouge is in a tier of southern cities with Shreveport, Little Rock, Memphis, and Jackson. New Orleans is a beloved international city.

You’re not very good at this.

When I was younger my Grandfather always told me "New Years Eve is for amateurs".

This. NOLA is a banana republic with a shuck and jive economy. And bourbon / the quarter is the worst part of the city.

Hard pass.

The Sugar Bowl being the primetime game on NYD is really good for those wanting to party for NYE. Gives you all day to rest back up

Too bad about the terrorist stuff last year which has to put some caution on this one

No, but we, for the past few years have gone to NO between Christmas and NYE, just got back last night. Great time to go. We took Amtrak this time and it was actually kind of fun. Nice not to have to drive.

Went to the quarter once but I’m starting to enjoy the Garden and Warehouse districts more.

This is where it's appropriate to say "I wouldn't be caught dead there".

The attack was at 3:15AM

Being out there right at midnight would be fine

I've lived my entire life in Oklahoma. I was there on NYE in 2013, a couple of days before OU beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl.

I had a great time that night, but never again. Way too old for that shite now.

ETA: And not because I'm afraid of being robbed or killed. I just can't party like that anymore.

Lots of my friends will be going tk dinner and hanging out all over the city( PSA for the usual nimrods), Nola is much more than just Bourbon street and the quarter).
Many will go see the fireworks down by the river.
Doubt many of my friends at our age will be hanging out on Bourbon street.

I would go if I had a nicely stocked apartment with a private balcony overlooking Bourbon.

I’m not a big fan of the shithole but meemaw (with help from the state) has been doing a good job of getting a handle on the crime. Definitely not what I would have expected from her.

Nope nope nope! We love it on a quiet night, but even before the NYE attack it was too risky to be out there for a big event night.

It’s way too crowded and dangerous. Even though they barricaded it to prevent cars what could stop someone from doing a mass shooting from a high rise hotel like the Las Vegas attack. I know it’s highly unlikely but those big crowds make me nervous.
