I do. What you dont understand is 1500 lbs is nothing to a large black bear.

I've hit one before while driving. Their fatal flaw is long legs and a weird center of balance.

One of these two animals KILLS and EATS the other one. Who do you think usually wins? I agree with you.

Alaskan grizzly averages 4.5 ft and about 900 lbs.

Ha! That 4.5’ will fool your arse when you go near one and he stands up. Happened to my bro-in-law in with measly black bear when we were in TN. He’s about 5’10” and that little bear towered over him.

Maybe one that’s elderly or injured, I just don’t see a black bear one on one taking on a bull moose and the black bear winning. That would have to be an extremely desperate black bear to take on a fully grown uninjured bull moose in it’s prime, and hell an extremely desperate Grizzly as well.

It's a similar question to if a male lion can take down a cape buffalo.

No single lion, male or female, is taking on a healthy cape buffalo one on one.

It takes 3-4 lions to take down a big buff, and even then it can be a tremendous struggle, with one or more of the lions being severely injured.

p.s. This topic belongs on the Outdoor board, imo.

You’re arguing with the guy that lives in Alaska and sees these animals regularly if not daily

This. You don't realize how massive they are until you are next to one.

Clydesdale horses weigh 2000 pounds often and I've been next to those. The Alaskan moose is the largest subspecies of all, weighing in at between 660 pounds and 1,500 pounds.

I'm going with the 800 pound grizzly 8 times out of ten.

I stood a few feet from a grizzly at the San Diego zoo. Not many animals on the plant can toe up with a grizzly.

Grizzlies aren’t around where I live, but moose and black bears are. Grizzly would probably usually win against a bull moose, but I’m super doubtful of the black bear unless the bull moose is injured, young, or extremely elderly.

I do to and I'm taking the moose in this one.

Sure, put a large moose and a mature griz in a cage and the griz wins every time. Let's not even talk about a 10+ foot Kodiak Brown.

But in the wild a 1500#, 70+ inch paddle, full rut, snot oozing bull moose is absolutely nothing to be trifled with. That moose is going to size up anything that it perceives as a threat, execute an otherworldly 'hulk smash', and if the threat doesn't back down it will glide off at 30+ miles an hour mowing down anything with less than a six inch trunk to it. A full grown bull moose is an awesome physical specimen.

Took a pic of this lil' guy next to my driveway in Anchorage a couple of years ago and mostly posting just to share the pic.

In Lonesome Dove, the Texas bull went toe to toe in a fight with a grizzly that ended up in a draw.

Yeah, that’s about how big the alpha bull moose I saw was. When that thing raises its head, it’s horns will come up to eye level with an African Elephant. They’d reach the crown of the head of an Indian Elephant. A black bear while running after that animal goes up to its knees and could max raise a claw to its lower arse when running after it. They’re massive animals, and I’m very apprehensive that a bull moose of that size and health would lose to a black bear.

I don’t think anyone is arguing that moose are not extremely dangerous, powerful animals that require respect and distance. I think all people are saying is that grizzly bears, not black bears, are almost as large and actually stronger than bull moose and that the over whelming majority of the time a full grown grizzly will be able to kill an adult bull moose if the bear decides it’s worth the risk

Not to mention almost god-like strength and a disposition of general aggression and anger.

Look at that video Crackling posted. Yeah a Grizzly could take that thing down, but do you think a black bear could? Moose are very powerful kickers and stompers. With the horns it reaches eye level to an African Elephant. I don’t see it happening.
