Making the roof usable space like this is a good idea. It's very popular in European countries. I don't know why the idea is not more prevalent here.

It looks like a shared wall townhome project that halted construction after one townhome.

Doesn’t seem like enough garage space. Also, maybe I’m not seeing it correctly but it doesn’t look like the shower is enclosed or has any kind of barrier to prevent water getting all over the place.

i'm about to go drive by it when i leave work. if it's right where i think it is, man that is a shitty fricking area. i've seen a few nice places pop up here just south of Opelousas, like Algiers Point is attempting to break out a little, but man...there's about a mile's worth of Mogadishu between that house and the nice houses in AP.

You can see a bunch of new small houses have popped up but this house in the OP is way too big and gaudy for that area.

drive around on streetview.
Back yard neighbors.

Turn around 180 and see this.

That big wall of glass seems like an ideal entry for some opportunistic yutes.

Probably someone black with a few bucks to spare. When I was a lad and worked a year in a factory, one of my workbench crew partners was a black kid working his way through school. He was quite the anomaly. A “smart brother” with glasses that liked Reagan, his mother was a veteran of 60’s black radicalism that had gone on to a professional career and made a bit of coin. But rather than leave their country ghetto, he told me she insisted on building their sprawling new house close to the old because “I want to be with my people”. She was a Race Woman through and through. He said everything she did was about “her people”. Cant really blame folks like that. Build all the new homes you want there. You want to improve your neighborhood and your folk’s lot, good on you.
