The peacock is probably someone's pet who wandered off. Hope you can find the owner.
When I was a kid living in the Lower 9th Ward there was a small mom & pop hardware store on Burgundy St. 1 block off Caffin Ave. call Lapeze's and run by two brothers and a sister.
They had a good size yard area fenced in with tall sheets of tin and behind that they had a couple peacocks. I would not have wanted to be a neighbor.

that happened to me one time. I saw something massive fly into the tree in the backyard. Turns out it was the peacock that belonged to the old owners of the Alligator Hilton

I think they're really cool birds...pretty friendly and very photogenic...

We always had them as visitors from Oakley Plantation / Audubon State historic park. They would roost on the roof of our house and make a shite load of noise

I have a coworker that has 2 on her farm here in middle TN. Not uncommon for people to have them.

They can pretty much live on their own. I knew a couple that had a few and barely cared for them so if it is a pet it might be days before they know it's missing but apparently they can go feral too.
They can. I have a place across from an animal sanctuary and three or four have gotten loose and I hear them way back in my woods every few days. And that’s been for several years.

Ha that’s cool and super random it’s probably same bird or from same pack or what ever it’s called. Small world
When I was a kid in northern California on the outskirts of fortuna ca my families houses butted right up to the forest and there was a huge flock or pack of peacocks that lived up in the woods wild for a few years something got them or someone got them I think, there was a mountain lion outbreak of like 7 cats in late 90s they killed like 40 goats and picking off ppls dogs, and attacking hikers for a while, everyone in town all went around there property locked and loaded for a whole summer maybe winter u til the cats were all dead or pushed out. I think the mountain lions got the peacocks or at least that’s what I tell myself.
