One $100+ phone bill and that number was blocked from our house

I remember discovering that song ‘Not an Addict’ on The Box. I paid to hear it again so I could tape it on the VCR. I had to answer for that charge on the phone bill.

We got in trouble at many a slumber party for running up the phone bill requesting songs on there
One of my middle school classmates won a contest on there and we had a Destiny’s Child concert in our school gym

Who remembers the channel "The Box" (I think its channel 78 back in the day for the OGs)
Us real OGs remember having four TV channels and having to go outside to turn the TV antenna to get two of them.

Hell yeah. Love me some Box.
Then Viacom bought them out and turned them into MTV2 :shakesfist:

Song that really sticks out the most for me from The Box was Destiny's Child - Get on the Bus

I grew up in the country, we didn't have basic cable, just a huge satelite dish, so I would go to the city to my friends house and watch the box. I loved it. So many good music videos back then. Limp Bizkit, Nelly, Big Tymers, Korn, Juvenile all come to mind.
I am surprised at the amount of people that don't remember or weren't familiar with The Box anytime I bring it up in conversation.

The Box was legit, although people usually played trash. Getting a decent song on was a huge win.
Was this a BR only thing?
