I pretty much view cars as simply transportation to get around but I am obviously not a baller though. To each his own. Whatever makes you happy

Apparently the same people that are getting TOPS

I can’t fathom what my income would have to be to consider spending $80-100K on a vehicle.

You are the exception. Not the rule.

German cars (from Merc to BMV to Audi) all are known for major mechanical and electrical issues with any repairs being costly as hell.

Everyone in my neighborhood

We may live in the same neighborhood. Since 2020 I've seen at least 10-12 of my neighbors driving by in new (Denali's, a Range Rover or two, and the big Infinity soccer mom mobile).

Truth be told, I'd like to get a new truck myself. But with the current state of the market, I will be taking my car in to the shop next week to get work done in order to hang on to it for another year or two. Or at least until dealers are asking $10k above sticker.

Whatever 'makes people happy' typically leads to emptiness.

Let me translate slowly. If you pay for the car in one transaction up front then you can afford it. If you think you can swing a monthly note, but you can't pay for it outright, then you can't afford it.

Okay Dave Ramsey. Let me translate slowly… people don’t stay poor by leveraging debt, they stay poor by spending cash on a depreciating asset when that money could be making them money. If you have good credit or belong to a credit union you’re getting a 2% interest rate. You’re telling me you’re not smart enough to realize that 20k you just spent on a car could earn you more than 2% somewhere over 5-6 years?

It's a good truck. Runs like a scalded dog on the original 350 Vortec.

I like paying cash for cars. Car notes are a good way to stay poor.

So is turning down 0% interest free money and instead withdrawing funds that would be making you money.

Pretty much actually no one

The only people that get one are the “have to have it” folks.

Same as the morons buying Alvarez built houses on burbank that are 1700 sq ft for almost 350k. Dumb arses

I'll die on this hill, but anyone who keeps spending money on new cars is a sucker.

Get one, ride it till it dies, move on.

They all have 4 wheels and get you where you need to go.

Well, technically they never die and it's always cheaper to get them fixed, even if you need a new engine.

$39,800 for a 20 year old truck?

The old 7.3 power strokes are great but that’s crazy for something so old.

I'm kind of like this. My last two cars were 4Runners I bought new. The first I drove for 12 years and 250,000+ miles. The one I'm currently driving is 4 years old, and my goal is to try to drive it until my almost 5 year old turns 16. I'll probably end up buying one before that, but we'll see.
