It is . Been busy af trying to not let the enjoyment of this gig slip away before they make me leave! Getting close though. Have another one lined up. Having so much fun I think I’ll take it before they say I’m too old. Glad to see a reasonably sane mind back on here!

If not for Genghis Khan we would all be worshiping Allah. He wrecked shite in the Islamic world just when they were poised to take over Europe.

George Patton

Should have let him invade Russia while the 3rd army was in Berlin. We could have essentially taken over the world like Germany was planning/trying to do during WW2.

Says no central religious figures

Lists central religious figure

I mean the actual figures that are at the center of the overall religion. I.e, Jesus in Christianity, Muhammad in Islam, etc.

All books were handwritten and in usually only two languages (Latin and Greek). Only the most wealthy could afford them. The printing press changed the society and culture of an entire continent within not even two generations.

Yeah no doubt. Gutenberg is a good answer. I’m just saying, the printing press would’ve come along regardless. But I guess that speculation is irrelevant.

I don’t think this was the case. He wrecked the Muslim world but I don’t think Islam was poised to take Europe in the 13th C.

Gavrilo Princip. Directly started WWI and indirectly started WW2.

There are a whole lot of great names in this thread. I will add one more to consider...John Snow (as opposed to Jon Snow from GoT).

He figured out that shitty water can kill people. His detective work included gathering data, analyzing it, and coming to the conclusion that beer drinkers were not dying (they drank beer, not water) and that water drinkers were dying at an alarming rate. In short, cholera is a bad thing and he was able to determine problem areas. After examining those areas, he was able to conclude that sewers too close to municipal water sources were an issue.

Honestly, there is no telling how many lives he saved.

How is a scam artist (be honest with yourself, that's what he is. Do some unbiased research on him) the most important figure in US history?
