The most interesting thing about this thread is how many people don't understand the meaning of the term "raised"

Billy Cannon threw me off because he was not born in Baton Rouge (or even Louisiana)
At one point it was a popular joke that all native BRians were born in MS.

Joe Osborne? Bass player for most of the Carpenters albums as well as America and 5th Dimension

quote:Joe Osborn (no "E") was born in microscopically tiny Mound LA and apparently raised in Shreveport (meaning Ricky Nelson's guitarist, the great James Burton, and bassist were both from S'port). I've never heard of him being connected to BR.

He was a notable figure in The Wrecking Crew.

Where exactly is Lobdell LA? A cursory Google search is unclear
Slim Harpo
Born January 11, 1924 Lobdell, Louisiana, United States
Died January 31, 1970 (aged 46)
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States
"Raining in my Heart"
"Got Love If You Want It"
ETA: Blues fans search WBR for Slim Harpo's grave

Lobdell is the west side of Port Allen along LA 415, aka Lobdell Highway.

Her father was a military officer so she moved around a lot as a child

She was born in Dallas, but if she lived in BR as a kid for quite some time, we have a winner.
I couldn't find anything.
