Jeff Heggelund is good. Former law enforcement, well seasoned and from Ascension. Here’s his FB link:

Just not a very smart guy.

If you want to help him support him and tell him actions have consequences. Man up and accept them. Don’t weasel out of them by paying a lawyer to make it seem like what he did wasn’t reckless and irresponsible.

He’ll learn more from that than getting away with being a dumbass.

All hat, no cattle.
Watched him for 3 days at a double murder trial in Terrebonne Parish.
He put on a show but neither the judge nor jury were impressed.
When phone records were introduced he was asking the Detective how the program on the computer worked to get the information. He got schooled.
Not impressed at all.

What’s the real story? You don’t get arrested for just waving a gun

Ummmm, yes, actually you do.

If you point it at someone, you can be charged with assault, too.

I thought Ascension Parish was still America. Brandishing firearms while hammered is how we won the West and took over the world.

Pegram Mire but he died like 3 years ago... Currently I don't know

Pegram could get you out of almost anything in Ascension. Not that he was a great attorney, just had connections and was a judge so long he got a long leash in court.

Why isnt hit and run while drunk driving a felony? Or hit and run during a police chase? Or any traffic offense during a police chase a felony? If they would stack every ran redlight, stop sign and leaving the roadway incident as a separate felony during a police chase, I would assume there would be a lot less police chases.

Hell, imo if you hit anyone period and run it should be a felony.

As it stands, it seems you get drunk at the bar, go to drive home and T-bone someone. And then flee the scene and an officers pulls you over a few miles down the road, both the DUI and the hit and run are each a misdemeanors?
