Most would recognize Trump he’s been in the public eye for decades and now he’s the president. Besides anyone on earth that wouldn’t recognize the POTUS must not watch any television or have any internet

We may not forget her ugly face, but if she's wearing glasses with no make-up Bill doesn't even recognize her (or doesn't want to)....

These two came to mind, but I remembered I was an American and it may not translate.

I was thinking a political figure like Trump, but I don't really have a frame of reference for how much foreign citizens do or do not pay attention to US politics. (For example, I wouldn't recognize 99% of other world leaders if they sat down at the bar next to me.)

Trump is more than just a US president though. He was incredibly famous before politics.

If I had to pick, I would say it's Cristiano Ronaldo. Soccer is by far the world's most popular sport, and he is its most popular player. He has an insane amount of sponsorships and he has mass appeal to multiple demographics.

I don't know how well he'd be known in certain Asian or middle eastern countries.

Tiger in Sports. Prince William or President Trump in politics/government. Bill Gates, Sir Richard Brandon or Warren Buffett in business. Bin Laden is the most recognized dead person.

Trump and Obama
This. Nothing compares to the worldwide fame of an American president. 8 years ago it would’ve been Bush and Obama. 8 years before that Clinton and Bush.

For the people that keep saying US Presidents, can you name the leaders of China and/or India?

I'm guessing they are better known on a global scale

Based on geography, I'm sure that Putin dwarfs Trump in global recognition

It just doesn’t compare. No matter what either side says, the world watches us. And Americans’ knowledge of other countries isn’t a good comparison. As a society, we just don’t pay much attention to others they way they do us.
