Summer 98 Jackson Parish Senator checking in. Had a blast and almost got our entire parish sent home early because of a prank gone bad lol.

We had a guy that was really in shape. I’m serious, 22 years later I can still see his abs and pecs. He did crunches and push ups for an hour every night before bed. He was a nice guy that pulled some small prank on someone and we thought he could take a joke. About 10 of us snuck into his room after he fell asleep and on the count of 3, we all started yelling and screaming at the top of our lungs.

He went ape shite.

He jumped up and started beating peoples arse. He was screaming at the top of his lungs while he did it, like he was having a war flashback or something. He sent 2 guys to the hospital.

As it turns out, we found out the next day, he was an abuse survivor. He was having a PTSD flashback.

He got sent home that night. The next day, some big wig came and spoke with our entire parish. He told us that they were discussing sending us all home. Luckily, nobody ratted about who exactly participated. The only other guys expelled were the two guys that got hurt.

We felt horrible. That poor guy didn’t deserve that. 20 years later, it is still sad but I have to admit, I laughed out loud remembering it all to type this up.

I don't have a ton of memories.

I remember Vernon and Vermillion were together.

I remember the guy who ran for governor for our party (don't remember the party name) gave this really good speech. Really well spoken.

We get to the general election night, and he gave the same damn speech, word for word.

He got waxed in the general.

I remember not sleeping and I remember all the counselors standing over every pothole, speed bump, etc, every time we walked somewhere.

I remember trading shirts at the dance. I remember before the dance, our counselor telling us this story (I'm sure a tall tale) about how when he was a student, the shirt he got from a girl had a rather... well... feminine scent, and he proceeded to demonstrate for us how the "scent" got on the shirt, as he imagined the young lady handled it.

The box that I had my shirts in... also had some pictures and some notecards with contact info, etc of some of my fellow citizens. I didn't really keep in contact with any of them. The box flooded and mildewed after Katrina. I just threw it out.

The Boys State documentary on Apple TV is a good watch, especially if you have actually been to one.

Summer ‘85. The lack of sleep would bring lawsuits these days.

The monotony of Kirby Smith Hall and the endless meetings.

1984. No sleep. Rack attacks. I made the banner for our group. Taught some dudes to break dance.

That’s all I remember.

I don't remember actually doing anything. I remember trying to be elected and my own floor voting against me.

I was such a douche canoe at that age. I think I had some kind of spiritual emotional crisis at one point. Just weird time in my life. Gives me the stomach pains looking back.

Nobody wanted to room with this one dude because they thought he was gay. I remember having to tell the guy...

"They think you're gay. Like...they think you suck dick."

Just awkward weirdness. Hell I hated myself at 16/17.

Are you sure that wasn’t the summer of 97 and you graduated in 98? Cause that shite sounds very familiar to an experience I had in 97
