Been arrested not jailed tho. Ride with a family member who had drugs in his car.

Was arrested and spent 12 hours in EBR parish prison until bonded out. No charges were ever filed, because I wasn't guilty. The thing I won't forget is that there were two men in that general area (just booked) who were saying things like "The bitch had it coming to her."

I've never been officially arrested or taken to jail.

I was once told to drive myself to jail, sat there for an hour, was put into the day area rather than a cell. A few buddies and I smoked cigarettes until shuft change, when all hell broke loose.

In short, I don't think anyone will ever be dumb enough to do it again. Nor do a think a local cop on a power trip will deny me a phone call.

Got in a fight at a bar my sophomore year of college, 1984, Muscle Shoals, AL.

Was dancing with a chick whose supposed boyfriend showed up and made a scene. We both got arrested and I was charged with minor drinking alcohol or whatever the charge was. I also had a fake ID.

Called my track coach and he bailed me out after a few hours. A city councilman was a fitness freak and ran with the distance squad a lot. He pulled some strings and got my case dropped.

Fast forward 30 years and I’m a vendor to city governments, including police departments, all over Alabama. Met with the Muscle Shoals PD and told them I’d spent the night in their jail. I got the account.

I was locked up in Ascension (Donaldsonville) a couple years back. Got in a fight and broke a dude's orbital socket (charges ended up getting expunged). It's no fun. Once they book you, you get your jumpsuit and they assign you to a pod. They give you a roll of toilet paper and a pair of slippers (they were out of my size - 13 - so they let me keep my regular shoes on. One guy had cowboy boots on) and then you grab a mat, go in the pod, and find an empty bunk while all the other guys are watching you. There are new guys coming in throughout the day/night on various charges. I will say that the guys in my pod were all pretty cool and easy to get along with. They had one guy nicknamed "Boosie" (not the real one) who was in control of things and kept order. When trays were distributed he made sure everybody got one, and he made sure when people were done that they put the trays back in a neat stack to make it easier for the guards. He also swept the floors and they had a system where in the morning the guard would bring a big cooler full of ice water and a stack of cups. Throughout the day guys could get a drink whenever they wanted. Then after everyone went to sleep he'd put the cooler by the door and the guard would come get it and empty it out and then refill it and bring it the next morning. There was only 1 toilet and 1 shower so if someone had to use the toilet they had a sheet stretched across a clothesline and if you had to drop a deuce you just pulled the sheet shut and everyone would know someone was in there and would give you privacy. I didn't eat any food - I wasn't in for very long and was never hungry - but I'd get a tray anyway and other guys would split it up and were very thankful. Their #1 thing though was canteen. Some guys didn't have any friends or family who would put money on their books so they never got anything. Boosie was one of those. I'd hear him on the phone calling family members and begging them to put money on his books but they wouldn't. I forget what it was but there was a certain thing that they fed us a lot but Boosie didn't like it. I think cornbread or cake, I forget. So there was one fat black guy who always asked for it and Boosie would give it to him. Anyway one night they brought the canteen delivery and the fat black dude got a bunch of chips and candy and other stuff. He lifted up his mattress and there was a giant cache of snacks. Anyway Boosie was on his bunk and he glanced over and saw the hidden stash and he asked the fat black dude for a bag of hot fries. The fat black dude told him he didn't have any which was a clear lie and Boosie went off on that dude. He walked over and called him a lying bitch straight to his face and told him to lift up his mattress but the fat black guy wouldn't do it. All the other guys in the pod were watching and he kept telling Boosie to shut up and back off but Boosie just kept going and basically punked him out and told the dude to never ask for his cake ever again. I remember there was another guy who was already there when I first arrived and he was on the floor wrapped up in a blanket, just shivering. This went on for several days, him just laying there. It was obvious he was going through serious withdrawal, cold turkey. Then one night in the middle of the night he started throwing up and it was very hard to watch. Anyway a lot of the guys helped him out and Boosie even got a mop and cleaned up the mess. For the most part the guys all got along. They had a TV and some guys would sit around by it and play cards. The guy on the bunk next to me was a young guy from San Antonio who was arrested for a drive-by shooting where they shot up a house in Prairieville in Bullion Crossing. After he did it he fled back to San Antonio but one of the other guys ratted him out. So he said he pulled into his apartment complex one day and as soon as he did he was surrounded by unmarked cop cars and they arrested him and held him at a jail in San Antonio until the Louisiana folks came to pick him up. He said he was on a 30-day hold and it was Day 29 and he thought he was going to be released the next day. He went to sleep and at 4am they woke him up and the people from Louisiana were there to transport him. They picked up a few other guys in Texas and had to bring them to various places in Louisiana and Ascension was the final stop so he was in the transport van for a looooong time. They were telling him he was going to be locked up until he was an old man but I recently found out that many of the charges were dropped. He pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 8 years, with credit for time served. 4 years of the sentence are to be served in custody, and the remaining 4 years are to be served on home incarceration which will be monitored by Louisiana Probation and Parole. He'll be out before he knows it. The guy under me was a Hispanic guy from Texas (he was the one with the cowboy boots) and got arrested the night before I got there for 3rd offense DWI. He didn't know the laws in Louisiana so he was very concerned, especially since he was from out of state. His wife didn't have transportation and there was no one who could come to get him. Some of you might remember a girl named Gracie Limas who was killed by her 16 year-old boyfriend. He had a couple friends that helped him hide and one of them got arrested and they put him in our pod. He was a slimy, cocky little bitty bastard named Leland. He was only 18 but the guards (and some of the inmates) already knew him from past lock-ups. He had zero remorse and you just knew he was going to be a career criminal. Complete POS and menace to society. Sure enough after he was released he got arrested again on and charged with 27 - I repeat 27 - various offenses. There was another fat slob named Ezra who had been arrested on child porn charges. He had thousands of videos and images. I recognized him because I had seen his story on the news, but I'm not sure the other ones knew what he was there for. There were definitely some characters in there. Sorry for rambling but that pretty much covers it.

TL;DR: Been there, done that, don't recommend it.

Got a DWI. Spent about 14 hours in the Baton Rouge slammer. The chick guard was a dick and wouldn't let me have a cup of water. They gave us turkey necks for breakfast at 7 AM and I traded it to another guy in there for his black eyed peas. There was a cell across the room from us filled with 30+ dudes all in orange jumpsuits hooting and hollering. The silence was deafening on the car ride home with my parents

I was arrested last week for driving with a suspended license for a speeding ticket that I thought the sheriff was supposed to have taken care of.

I was only in the "bullpen" of the county jail for 3 hours and my anxiety level was on an 8 or a 9. There was a hole in the middle of the cell where I was supposed to take a leak and I laid on a concrete slab with no pillows and blankets and afternoon coffee.

I have no idea how people do it. I was only there for 3 hours and now I'm scared straight lol.

Got hammered, let him drive my car. He turned the wrong way down a one way street right in front of a sheriff car. He was charged with dui

Same-ish story for me: girlfriend was driving my car, she got popped for the DUI and I was taken in for "allowing another person to operate my vehicle in violation of GA law."

Got booked into Cobb Co. and put in holding with everyone else. I was pretty lit, so I started chatting with everyone. Deputy opens the door and says, "Mr. ****, can you come here, please." I oblige. He says, "Your intake paperwork says you're a lawyer." That's correct. "You can't be in here, come on."

He led me to a private cell with a pay phone on the wall. I hung out and called everyone I could think of, collect of course, to chat. Got hold of my old law school roommate and he arranged bail for me and the gf. My charges were thrown out and she had a shitload of community service to do.

Las time I was in jail they rounded up all the Hispanics and sent them on a bus to the ice detention center. Obama was President.

No one cried about it.

apparently TABC out there in West Texas

TABC did this shite all over the state in 06-07. That was my Junior year at A&M and you had to watch your arse for a few months for undercover TABC cops. They were going into bars and straight up arresting people for being drunk. Needless to say it did not last long in most of the state as lawsuits were heavily filed for it.

I mouthed off to a cop when i had some bs ticket warrant. So they took me in. Well it was a holiday weekend so i had to stay 3 days. It wasn't that bad. Was in the lock up the whole time. Had a bunk. The lights never turn off. The food was horrible. And the bunks were split between spanish and English speakers. The one thing no one tells you it's how bad it stinks. Most people in there are days without a bath. Some people stunk bad . On day two there was a shower call. They handed me a washcloth and no towel. I was the only person in pod who showered. I didn't worry about that. But someone gave me shite for complaining about toietries. Not wanting to take shite in jail i started a fight. I took some good blows to the head but he needed medical i didn't. That made the rest of my stay pretty easy when i was taken out the segregation pod and put back in the bunks.
Then because of the fight. I was charged with an actual crime. And since i had a charge and wasn't on a warrant hold anymore i was given a bond amount. I posted bond and got out at 3am.
I threw everything i wore away. Went to court. Case was dismissed. Initial warrant dropped as time served. Never had trouble again.
Hope to never see those stinky frickers in Gretna again.

Havent even been pulled over in 15 years. So I'm straight as an arrow now.

Spent the night in the beautiful JPSO Hilton in Metairie some years ago.

2 friends and I thought it would be a good idea to get tanked, swipe a Stiltson wrench from my old man's toolbox and proceed to drive around opening 13 fire hydrants at around 2 in the morning. Then we ran from the cops, but got cornered behind a Winn-Dixie and hauled to the clink. 13 counts of criminal mischief.

Pops let me spend the night as a reward. He came and got me about 7am. Threw the Times-Picayune at me and told me I had until the end of the week to find a full-time job. I thought he was going to beat my arse, and I would've deserved it.

A few years ago, I spent 24 hours in Montgomery County Jail (just north of Houston) after a DUI. Honestly, it was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. There was a guy in a single cell across from us completely losing it, screaming and smearing actual shite all over the walls and door. Meanwhile, a bunch of others were coming down from meth, heroin, and who knows what else. I'd rather give birth to a baby through my penis than ever have to experience that ever again.

It’s amazing after all these stories (mostly DWI’s) we haven’t had the MADD police lose their shite about how they should be jailed for 10 years under the crime of attempted murder…

Dudes yelling all night and day because they can. Shitty nap on a metal bench. Pretty boring otherwise. I kept to myself and nobody messed with me. Lot of time to think about where the evening went wrong. I didn't stay long enough to eat a meal or get an orange suit.

Not the worst camping trip I've ever been on, but near the bottom of the list.
