Who else here can’t stand going out to dinner anymore?

Look, I’ll preface this conversation by saying I love my SO and want to treat her well and usually do it because it’s something she enjoys and because she is one of those “Foodies” that wants to go to the new restaurants or hotspots in town. Personally I just can’t help but get irked internally every time after we go to one of these places and the dinner is over and see the bill for $250-$300 for 2 people.
To me it’s not just about the money necessarily, but how the money is being spent.
I mean you almost can’t go anywhere these days above a half decent place if you order ann app(1) a 2-3 drinks(total), dinner(2) and a desert(1) for less than the above mentioned.
I guess it’s because I love to cook and most of the places she picks the food in my opinion WAY overrated, the portions are usually small and that I’m hungry within hours of leaving which to me makes it even more unsatisfying.
Just curious how everyone else feels about this situation or similar.
We also do it often at that price point but maybe a couple times a month but personally I still would rather find a low key less known place that serves great quality food in sizable portions and that I’m happy with for $100-$150(after tip) which still isn’t cheap.if you do it too often.

I like going out to dinner but I’m not spending anywhere near that kind of money. I wouldn’t want to pay $300 a meal either.

I looked at a menu to a place some of my family went this week. $30-40 salads and apps.

I enjoy going out to eat for the most part.

Either in a cheap arse or you’re dining at a lot of fancy restaurants. Holy shite, baw.

Your one meal could buy half my families groceries for the month

This is one of the great things about being a single guy in his 30's with good income.
I eat out almost every meal and tip generously.
The drinks are what drives $$$
up the checks...
Got me a little local diner where I have breakfast and all the old lady servers know me and I put a "Miss" on their name to show respect
As I type this I am realizing I should rethink these spending habits

It isn’t enjoyable to me anymore. Even places I’ve been going to for years are far more expensive now and it seems almost universal that the quality is way down despite the increase in cost.

I’m really not, and don’t eat big portions either but most of these trendy bitch places have apps and dinner portions than are very limited IMO.
I’m a meat eater though.

I don't care about the cost for me its hard to look at every surrounding table and see how fricking fat and out of shape everyone is. Its really off putting and disgusting when you think about it. And sad.

We almost never go out unless we are on vacation. We will order pizza occasionally or go out for sushi cause that's hard to do at home.
The money just feels like a waste to me considering what else we could do with it. And the experience always seems rushed these days. Like I'm being treated as a hog at a trough that needs to eat, pay, and leave so they can hurry up to get another hog in the seat.
I like to cook, rather just stay home and do so.

I enjoy it, but it is costly.

I rarely find the juice to be worth the squeeze.
It always seems like a major production just to have a few moments of enjoying the food then push out a $200 shite a few hours later.

just keep this in mind, these restaurant bills are far cheaper than a divorce attorney.

Hopefully it is just a phase but tally up all of your excursions and present them in terms of lost opportunities. My wife and I did this for a while and I got the "end of year" summary which broke down the expenditures by category. The Restaurant category was well over $20k, I showed this to the wfie and said we need to cut back a little since we literally ate enough to go on a weeks long Caribbean vacation twice.
We still go out to eat but now only for the Happy Hour specials.
