re: Who collected beanie babies in the 90s

My kid who is at LSU now used to spend all his money on webkinz when he was around 10. Basically like beanie babies but you got a code with them and could do shite on a website for your animals. He had a couple dozen of them, and they were like $15-20 each.

I had completely forgotten about this, but just last week out of the blue he asked me how I let him spend all his money on webkinz. I told him it was his money and I let him spend it how he wanted. He said,”Yeah, but why didn’t you tell me that shite was gay.”

Is it any different than me having a shite ton of Gregg Jeffries rookie cards, and expecting them to be worth something

My mother in law collected them.

It was a stupid phenomenon.

My whole family collected them. It was a bizarre phenomenon thinking back on it. I remember there were special events at the Hallmark store in the mall where they'd let a few people in at a time to buy no more than 5 or so. It was always a guessing game of how many/ which "rare" ones they'd have on hand. The hilarious part is all of the extra stuff you could buy for them, like individual cases and tag protectors.
