He's getting up there, but Phil Wittmann is in the conversation. He was Tom Benson's lawyer. In other words, who would a billionaire choose if fees are no object?

I wouldn't hire anyone from Kean Miller to represent me. Glorified paper shufflers, nothing more over there.

Criminal lawyers, Mike Small in Alex and Lewis Unglesby in Baton Rouge. The late Richard Burns was in that top tier as well.

Tax lawyers, Ted Jones in Baton Rouge but not sure how much actual practicing he does today. Ted knows every politician from coast to coast and probably has more clout than anyone out there. And clout often comes into play in litigation.

Civil lawyers...........too many to count. A lot of the great civil lawyers never get heard of as they do their job before it ever hits a court room.

There was a guy in Monroe area named Al Loomis who seemed to always come out on top regardless if he represented either spouse, if you're talking family court stuff.

Loomis was a certified piece of shite. Where he excelled was dragging out a case for as long as possible and costing both parties enormous amounts of money. May he rest in hell at Satan’s right hand.

He ruled Cameron Parish. Had a beautiful home out on Big Lake Road.

If he had a trial with lawyers from Texas, the Cameron ferry would usually “break down” about the time they needed to cross over They looked helplessly across the ship channel as he strolled in and put on his case. Or so the story goes.

I've said it several times before, but in the criminal world, its Val Salomon up in Monroe. The man owns a courtroom.

Plus, it didn’t hurt that his former law partner was the district court judge, the DA was his brother, the state representative was his brother in law, and the sheriff was his cousin.

Wendell Gauthier from NOLA (dead now) was the GOAT. He made BILLIONS representing people and families involved in the biggest cases of our lifetime, such as the MGM fire, tobacco company settlements, and other major cases of national significance.

He died in 2001 but he was hands down the GOAT.

I tried a case in Cameron against JB a few years after that, when a political rival was the district judge. That was much more fair, LOL. But he also owned the 3rd Circuit Ct of Appeals, so eventually I had to pay him.
