Naming a kid is such a crap shoot. You either recycle a name and there is 10000 other Bobs or Ryans or whatever it is, or you go with something unique and it could age like wine or milk.

I thought I was giving my dog a unique name when I got her and then I googled it only to find that it is the most common girl dog names.

On the contrary, Aaron is a good normal name, but I only met one Aaron in person

I've met several over the years, but the poor guys often encounter other people who are too dumb to spell Aaron correctly.

Dog names are kind of the opposite. Remington sounds normal to me, whereas naming a dog something like Jonathan sounds bizarre

One of my nieces named her son Koi and I asked her why she named her son after a breed of pond fish. She seemed insulted, but that kid's got to grow up with that name clinging to him.

At least it wasn't "Toad or Guppy".

Ahhh, so you went the Frank Zappa route in naming your kids.

They are Moon Unit Zappa, Dweezil Zappa, Ahmed Zappa and Diva Zappa in that order.

I’m trying to convince my wife that our boys should be named after great military leaders:
Alexander
Frederick
Scipio
Hannibal
Julius
Napoleon

But she’s not buying it

If a white chick has a baby boy with a black guy, I believe she's legally obligated to name him some form of Aiden or Jayden.

You're going to get hate for this but you're right. Nothing wrong with James, Mark, Steven, etc. Now everyone thinks their special snowflake needs to be Jaxson or Ruxson.

I hate the stupid spelling of names as much as anyone, and I agree there's nothing "wrong" with any of the names you listed, but there's also nothing wrong with acknowledging that we don't need to limit ourselves to a few dozen names that are transliterations of names created a few thousand years ago in languages none of us using those names currently speak

We could use a Margaret or two. A Cynthia wouldn't be out of place.
