The state fair in Shreveport used to have the death car. I would go with my grandparents every year but they wouldn't let me see it

I travel around the State for my job and stopped by the monument in 2013. Literally in the middle of BFE. Makes sense due to B&C travelling the country back roads to avoid the law. Having been there, it's easy to see how they were set up and ambushed. The monument is vandalized and shot up all the time by drunk idiot teenagers. Replaced every few years by the Bienville Police Jury. (site location looking North) today

Most people believe Henry Methvin killed the two motorcycle cops in Grapvine. Those murders really turned up the heat on B&C, and turned the public against them.
Methvin’s father was used as bait to get Bonnie & Clyde, and some kind of agreement allowed Henry Methvin to avoid charges in those murders, but was convicted for his part in killing a cop in Oklahoma. He was eventually pardoned, arrested a few more times, and met his end when he was hit by a train while driving drunk in Lake Charles.

Yeah I have been to the monument. There is a little path in the woods behind it with a bunch of trash dumped everywhere. The essence of Louisiana.

Here’s a little tidbit of info. At the time they were killed, Bonnie didn’t even have a warrant out for her arrest

There's not much evidence that she ever did anything but go along for the ride. She came from a poor, but respectable family and had never been in trouble before hooking up with Clyde.

I've always been fascinated by this story. Maybe due to the close proximity of where I live and have lived that many of Bonnie and Clyde's escapades, including final ambush took place. My dad took me there to the spot when I was younger, but I haven't been by there in a while. I plan on taking my sons by there next time we are in the area. I did recently find out that my nephew TheTexasTiger7 and I are related to Bonnie Parker.

I don't think any of the B&C death cars are authentic. My dad told me the car was towed to town and over a few days the locals took parts off the car for souvenirs until there was very little car left. Sounds about right.

Clyde Barrow has a hard life. He was so small, he got raped really badly at Huntsville as a young kid . Bonnie didn’t have it much better- just poor white trash . Extreme poverty. I highly recommend the book Go Down Together by Jeff Guinn.
