So this is basically like someone abandoning their jalopy on the side of the road, a knowledgeable mechanic finds it and fixies it up, into pristine condition, then the original owner comes back and demands that the car is returned to him - without compensating the person that put the time, money and effort into fixing it. Sounds fair.

The Farmland movie on YouTube did a good job of explaining it all. The SA government is basically turning a blind eye to murders, and just telling people to take the land back by whatever means necessary.
That being said, I don't expect people who don't know anything about farming to magically become successful during a major drought
