Because far too often it's an argument ender...as there is no real retort to it. Sure, someone can say they aren't, but isn't that exactly what a real racist would say? It's a charge that can be levied against someone that can stick without any evidence and can be almost impossible to shake in the social media age.
None of that has anything to do with real racism...just why those who truly are not are not fond of being lazily lumped in with those who are because the accuser is either an opportunist, too lazy to know better, or too stupid to care.

If it's someone that doesn't know me it bothers me. They have no idea what's in my heart. But if it's one of the guys I regularly discriminate against based on their race I'm ok with it.
