I'll play along though.... I guess Gambit, always really liked him from what I knew about him, which isn't much to be honest,...
But not sure what his powers would be that would help him out in this type of situation.

Gambit can channel kinetic energy into objects. He usually throws explosive cards but also carries a staff that can let out a big blast too.
Cyclops would be the best choice. He just has to open his visor and spin around in circles.

Aren't Magneto and Prof X the most powerful X-men?

Oh no. They aren't weak. But they aren't the most powerful. I'm not into reading comics at all, but I do know that there are god tier like mutants. Jean Grey alias Phoenix is pretty much all powerful at her strongest form.
