I like adding to the confusion

is it a simple physical question, or something more esoteric

is it a spiritual matter or a state of mind

presence vs perception

If it's a delta it's gotta be California and Alaska. You can get nearly 2500 mile difference.

So the delta is just the difference in-between the two? I graduated college almost 20 years ago..

Closest point in Alaska to Texas is less than 1900 miles. Furthest is over 3800 miles. That is a difference, or Delta?, of over 1900 miles..

Yes. Earlier I said I didn't know how to declare a winner given that the two variables are not compatable, but then he said that all I have to do is subtract. The OP also stated that it had to be in the lower 48 so you can't use Alaska. All you have to do is take the two longest states that don't border each other and no matter how close or far apart they are, they win.

eta: also I wanted to poke fun at Rummel.

eta2: Fort Dick.

A point has no size. Nothing there to touch. No border. No land. If you google official land borders for these states, the diagonals are not listed.
