They listed something worth $50 for thousands. They were purposely trying to scam him.

Legal or not, if the city doesn't give him his money back those homeowners will have to pony up 50% of what he paid and each buy 50% of the land and split it in half. Or one of them buy the whole thing. Because this guy can cause a legal headache for years that's not worth $4500.

Yeah I'm curious how this was not caught in any title search or anything like that?

Who owned the property for so long? The county? If the county owned it, I'd think the property owner's could sue the county for allowing something to be built over top someone else's property?

How or why was the property subdivided like that in the first place?

It was listed as worth $50

But the appraiser’s site and information on the county’s tax site also show the negligible value of the property

but since that "land" has been used for some time in the manner that it has buy inhabitants/owners, including the mail boxes on it, ole baw is fricked,

The present inhabitant moved in a few months ago. She said she will move her mailbox if necessary. Wouldn't that set precedent that she knows she is wrong and needs to move her garage too? Also, two months of having your garage on somebody else's land is not a long history.

He is a dolt, but only outbid the second place bidder by $100. Others clearly thought it was something different also.

Developer owned the land. There was likely a party wall agreement or boundary line agreement. If so, not much buyer can do. Looks like a patio home with a zero setback. Buyer bought himself a brick wall and strip of land. Mailbox likely within the R/W.

Yeah I was going to say. This was an auction, it didn't get to over $9,000 without others bidding.

One of the owners of the town homes purchased AFTER this happened. So this is going to be a legal mess unless the city/ county makes it right.

If he bought that at auction and the bidding reached $9100 it sounds like he was not the only idiot. Just the last idiot standing.

If it was bought in an auction then I stand corrected but I didn't get that impression

i never heard of not having a setback rule you cant build that close to property line without both owners agreeing to it with litigation wavers.

either houses roof line being that close can literally drain rain runoff straight onto the neighbors land at base of foundations and wash out his foundation

dude was most likely one of those house flippers buying shite off the internet sight unseen but he still had a description saying it was 1'x 100' so no excuses for being that retarded
