A man who snagged a $177,000 villa for $9,100 now believes he was scammed by the Florida county that put the property up for auction for unpaid property taxes.

quote:

The villa turns out to be a 1-foot-by-100-foot strip of land that separates two villas in Tamarac and is worth $50, the Sun Sentinel reports.

Broward County sold the parcel to Kerville Holness at an online auction of tax delinquent properties in March.

The land, which holds two mailboxes, starts at the curb, goes under a wall separating the garages of two adjoining villas and then extends out to the back, the paper reported.

Sounds like this baw has some drilling to do.

But the appraiser’s site and information on the county’s tax site also show the negligible value of the property, that there is no building value, that the land takes up only 100 square feet and that the property is one-foot wide.

Rent 1/2 the garage space to each person. Seems like he owns the middle of the garage.

he can recoup his money by selling a 0.5'x100' section to each villa owner, or send them a demand letter to remove their structure from his property...IE pay up or lose the garage....

I bought it.

I plan on putting some offensive artwork on it and watch the two homeowners blame each other.

If there are building setbacks on each side of that strip, neighbors are screwed.

Nobody got scammed.

The retard just looked at the picture and assumed it was the condo without actually reading the description of the thing he was bidding on.

Sun-Sentinel article

Any chance of collecting any type of rent or fee from the current villa owners could be hurt if no such payments were required by the previous owner, Singer said.

Who gives a flying rat's arse what the previous owner did? Baw owns the land now. He should be able to rent his property for whatever the market value is. Since he is the only one in the market that owns a parcel of land like this, he should be able to set market value.

Can’t believe the two condos don’t meet in the middle. Something isn’t right. Who owned the “land” before him.

been a while since I was up on real estate rules, but since that "land" has been used for some time in the manner that it has buy inhabitants/owners, including the mail boxes on it, ole baw is fricked, on top of being an idiot, just curious as to how it is separate property and who generated the tax debt, developer? HOA?
