Cross right by U club, have exit ramps across from entrance with a light. Solves problem needing cops there daily.

Wouldn't you need one that would allow access to I-12? All those trucks passing through aren't going to take I-10 through NOLA.

NO!

Folks, ALL THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN is ANY bridge located ANYWHERE that SIMPLY peels off maybe 15% of the traffic that would currently take the I-10 MRB.

That's all. Just a 15% decrease on the "new bridge" would cause an incredible amount of relief. And one can assume, I think, that at least 15% of the trucks that take the current route are headed to Gonzales, Sorrento, and New Orleans metro anyway.

As an added bonus, ANY bridge located between Port Allen and Donaldsonville would be all but GUARANTEED to carry massive percentages of baws leaving the plants north and south of Plaquemine, thus relieving the current bridge bigly, from 3:15pm to 6:30pm

In my opinion, all of these options are less than optimal. The bridge needs to allow for connection to I-12.

NO IT DOES NOT!!! It only needs to relieve a relatively small % of current MRB traffic to make a MASSIVE difference!

It's not rocket science.
Somewhere around Gross Tette, there needs to be a new interstate heading south to cross the River, #5 looks ideal, and go up and connect back to I-10, continue on up through Ascension crossing the Amite and connecting to I-12 around Walker/Livingston. YES IT DOES!!!!

It should be at a minimum 3 lanes the entire way. Force all 18 wheelers who are "passing through" Baton Rouge to take it. That right there will solve all traffic issues.

Would help but not enough, IMO

You HAVE to relieve I-12 pressure OR keep trucks away from downtown that are passing thru.

Also, get that damn Truck Stop off of DS exit.

I think anywhere between addis and white castle would be fine. Either way, I don't care where they put it, they just need to do something to take the stress off of traffic.

And whatever they decide, it would probably be helpful if they found a way to fix the i-10/i1-10 split.. Well the i-10 part of the split where traffic bottlenecks.

It should be a northern bypass to get the big trucks that are going interstate through I-12.

Tie it into the old bridge for one direction and a new new bridge for the other direction.

Your opinion is reasonable, but just incorrect. I wish I could send some of you guys to a traffic engineering one-day course, or even a half-day of queuing theory.

The effect of peeling off 15% of the traffic (around LA-415) to a bridge located at, say, Brusly, and having that traffic continue on to Gonzales or metro New Orleans via an I-10 connection would literally be a dream come true for Baton Rouge, in almost all traffic scenarios (except for massive wrecks).

The added bonus of the 3:15pm to 6:30pm plant traffic also taking that new-new bridge would have the O-T popping champagne bottles instead of making daily complaint threads.

The "want" to relieve I-12 is unnecessary, expensive, and quite possibly a reason the new-new bridge is 25 years overdue!! You guys are wanting a Cadillac when a Buick will do the job nicely.

You haven't sat in I-12 traffic before?

What happens to I-12 when the inevitable wreck happens in Baton Rouge? or when someone decides to go dangling from a sign?

And i'm not talking about having that I-10/I-12 connection for that reason. It's needed as another means to cross the Amite River, and for the tons of people that live in Livingston but work in Ascension or that area. Everyday traffic is backed up along 447 into Walker from people coming from work around I-10 making their way back home.
I agree that just adding the bridge from 10 to 10 will do wonders to Baton Rouge traffic, but there needs to be something connecting Prairieville and Denham.

Yes I have, and you make a good point.

I should have clarified, so let me... for the new-new bridge, from LA-415 to, say, I-10/Highland (just for discussion), this doesn't just help out the I-10 MRB and downtown Baton Rouge. It helps you guys too!

Right now, virtually 100% of cars traveling from Grosse Tete to New Orleans AND virtually 100% of cars traveling from Grosse Tete to Hammond (and the other direction too)…

EVERY CAR passes the I-10/I-12 split AND downtown Baton Rouge AND the I-10/I-110 split AND the I-10 MRB AND the LA-1 junction.

By reducing the number of cars hitting these problem areas, by 15% or maybe 20% (VERY plausible), this does wonders for I-12 from Essen to Holden!!

I kindof want to sympathize, and agree with you, and I suppose I do.. but I was promoting a new MRB while at LSU in the mid-90s and I fricking cannot believe that was 25 goddamned years ago and not a drop of concrete has been poured!

Please stop bolding things. I'm just imagining you behind your computer screen yelling at me and that isn't a pleasant way to spend my last few minutes of the work week.

This. Gotta have a 10-12 connection east of the amite. The fact that to get from one to the other you have go surface streets thru BR, go ALL the way to essen, or to HAMMOND is retarded.

But if they would just take it out to grosse tete and tie it into I-10 around spanish lake it would effectively become a bypass

And truck route. No more trucks wrecking up the bridges and screwing up the traffic.

A nice 6 lane high speed toll road between 1-10 and 1-12 would improve traffic and quality of life . Sure the bridge to 1-10 should be the priority but that would be an awesome secondary project that would remake rush hour in Baton Rouge.

I 12 traffic can still take the current bridge. Everything else take the new bridge... AP, NOLA etc...
