You don't have clue.

Nazis?

Any time you want to put your "In the hood most people ignore you if you mind your own business" theory to the test. Let me know.

You are as I described in an earlier post, what the predators call "a gift".

I accidentally wandered into the hood in NOLA one night looking for food. Was told by security to get out. Bad area looked dangerous.

Grew up in a hood. I saw shootings, gangs, racial violence, and of course lots of drugs.

I vote hood by shear volume of fricktards per square foot

Used to have a job that would frequently require me be in the hood and occasionally require working in the sticks. Always felt more “comfortable” in the hood.

Most of the time I was working in the sticks it was areas where everyone knows/is related to each other including LEOs and couldn’t/wouldn’t give AF if you went missing. Same could happen in the hood, but there’s more sets of eyes and the law would likely get involved.

Put me in the hood all day, erry day!

Key word. Night time. In my experience (NBR) the hood sleeps from about 5:30 am until sometime in the early afternoon. You’ll see a few crackheads and hookers wandering around but in the morning it’s fairly safe, unless you are looking for trouble.

The ones that are up at that time usually have jobs or are just people trying to live their lives and not bother anyone.

Now if you are walking around with valuables and look like an easy mark, someone might try their luck. But by and large if you have a legit reason to be in the hood from 7-noon, you’ll come away unscathed

The hood is worse than meth areas. Never go into an area like South side of Chicago. May not come out alive

Facts. Being white in the middle of the hood isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be. A college age white kid getting mugged/shot on one of the ave alphabets is gonna bring every single cop in the city down on that hood.

The deeper in the hood you go, the safer you are.

Yep, as you said you have to be out before the hood rats wake up.

Before noon and the hood is benign mostly. White trash folks are up at all kinds of hours.

I never need to visit a hood again but it's nice to know there's a window of time that's the same no matter what state you're in.

I have been in many of the worst neighborhoods in the country due to I used to executive produce a tv show on college football recruiting. Never had any issues whether it be New Orleans, Miami, Memphis, Los Angeles or even Detroit. Sure there were looks, but if they dont smell fear they leave you alone.

Have none of you idiots never seen Deliverance? No way in hell I would ever go into some backwoods known for tweekers for fear a group of meth heads may want me to squeal like a pig.

I like to drive through the hood when the sun goes down but there’s still some light. There’s always something going on.

In all seriousness, I can appreciate how hood people actually spend time outside and socializing.

Congratulations on proving you're a complete rube. Literally citing sensational Hollywood plots as the reason you avoid an area, while everyone intelligent who disagrees with you can cite things from real life.

the thing is you really have to seek this out, or even know where to find it. it's not like the ghetto where you cross some railroad tracks or an overpass and all of a sudden there's crime.

it's probably a couple miles from town on a dirt road, with a 1/4 mile driveway

eta: or at least that's how it is in the midwest

I’ve spent plenty of time in the hood after dark. Usually me and one other white dude. Been a couple years but I never had any issues.

It amuses me how there will be a bunch of junk chairs in a vacant lot surrounded by trash, and about lunch time it will be full of able bodied me just...sitting, shooting the shite, drinking out of brown paper bags.

When I worked on the river, in Edgard there is a barge cleaning plant.

Across the road from the cleaning plant was a gas station, and there were always a bunch of able bodied men drinking and smoking outside of it.

I’d have to go out there every so often to do some inspections, and the cleaning dock was bustling with hard working men, mostly black. I would talk to the guys and one of them drove 3 hours each way, lived in Mississippi. Good dude just supporting his family.

And it makes you think, this one guy will drive almost 6 hours every day to put food on the table, and these other mother frickers won’t even cross the damn road to get a job.

You can’t teach character, and it ain’t about race
