As Mississippi's own Steve Forbert once sang
Well I'm goin' down to Laurel
It's a dirty stinkin' town yea

I've got nothing against Osyka. I was always excited to see it because that was our exit to go to the hunting camp

Meridian has problems but isn't the worst. At least it has the Riley Center and a commercial airport.
I used to fly Lafayette LA to Atlanta a lot and we'd always have to stop in Meridian to pick up passengers. It was like a bus stop! I'd always laugh my arse off when we had to stop and pick people up. The first time I made that flight, I was like WTF are we doing?? I thought I had taken the wrong flight and was afraid I'd be stuck in Meridian MS. Scary!

ickfila and Popeyes and is about the only decent place to stop for gas between Tuscaloosa and Slidell
Hattiesburg is a good place to stop. At least there is a Hooters and some pretty decent talent that works there

It's actually probably in the top 5 LEAST depressing interstate accessible towns in MS. That's not to say, it's not mighty depressing, though. It's all relative of course.

Actually the last time I was back in McComb it was depressing to see.

Yeah, I forget about Hattiesburg.

I see a lot of different towns in Mississippi. Lol McComb is paradise compared to 90% of them.

I live outside of Hattiesburg and I like it a lot up here.

I heard there used to be an oriental massage parlor right off the interstate in Hattiesburg. You know if it's still there. I'm asking for a friend.

Petal isn't a bad place, and what I've seen of Hattiesburg has been decent.
I did a pipeline job there and lodged in Hattiesburg. I actually concur about both places. Nice spots to eat, good shopping, nice gym, and to cap it off, really good jits school.

I'm always impressed driving through Hattiesburg. The roads tend to be well maintained. My wife likes to hit up the Hattiesburg Dirt Cheap too. On one of our trips back from Tennessee we hit up every dirt cheap between Tuscaloosa and Hammond (
). Hattiesburg was by far the nicest. I had high expectations for Gander Mtn but was slightly disappointed. Where is the Hooters over there? Closer to USM?

It's in the same parking lot as Harbor Freight.

Grenada isn't that bad. They have a really nice state park and Lake Grenada is pretty

Batesville
EDIT: Hattiesburg is actually pretty cool for a town of its size. The university and Camp Shelby bring a lot of people through the city and it gets amenities a city of its size usually won't have/can't afford.
