I have a 2014 with 167k and it’s been the best overall vehicle I’ve owned.

5W-20 oil shears out of weight with use. The upgraded pump can supply what is needed even with 5W-20 oil but 5W-30 is still recommended.
I’ve come to realize I can run T6 5W-40 in everything from wet clutch motorcycles to lawnmowers to turbo gas and diesels and that all the lower weight oils are horrible on reliability. And T6 doesn’t shear nearly as much as other oils as it ages. I actually use it in some of my motors that call for 5W-50 and it works great for that too (based on used oil analysis).

Anyone with the 6.2 engine.

My brother has one with like 150k miles in his F250 with 6R140. Solid engine but it’s not fast.
It’s a two valve SOHC design that is just a large displacement Ford Modular motor like the two valve 5.4L Tritons and the 4.6L in the pre-2005 mustangs and Crown Vics.
I would drive a 6.2 but at this point they will be pretty high mileage. Looking at rear end rebuilds and rebuilding of suspension and steering at that point, but the engine and tranny should be solid. The 3.5L makes more power and is faster with better efficiency though but does have turbos. I think the 6.2 would be a good choice if you were going to be buying a very high mileage truck like 200k miles.

I had a 2017 F250 work truck that had 245k miles. I just got a new one and that 17 drove better than this new one.
Mine is a beast. I take care of the maintenance and keep it clean but it’s a working machine. It hauls and pulls and has its scars but it has a lot more life in it and a new one is what $80k ? frick that.

I have a 2017 F150 but with way fewer miles (70k). It's been a great vehicle for me for 8 years. I trust the old 6 speed more than the current 10. I hope to get 5+ more years out of it.

Not synthetic, and not when changed at proper intervals.

Bout to trade my 22 F250 6.7 on a 26.
I like them, and have good service from all of them.

Can be with tuning and a little work because unlike:

...it's got heads that can flow. 6.2's are solid engines, even with 200k+ on them they won't fall off as long as they got the oil changed regularly. The 4 spark plugs per cylinder is a pain but not impossible.

Even synthetic, the 3V engines are hard on oil. The 5K OCI is needed mostly because the oil pump is too marginal with how 5W-20 lasts in these engines. Put a Melling M360HV in and 5W-20 becomes a non-issue if at least not ideal.

I can't speak to a specific engine, but I haven't seen oil break down, even in track cars, in 20 years.

Sure throw a big blower or big turbos and methanol and lots of motors can be 1000hp.

Chevy Colorado.
Had the '04(OG model). It was the welcome home present to myself after my tour in Baghdad.I had that truck 13 years. Transmission gave out 800 miles shy of 300K. Like an idiot, I sold it to the transmission mechanic when I should have just paid a little extra to fix it and keep it. Goddamn I miss that truck. Best vehicle I've ever owned.
Like a fricking rock.

Don't think track cars are running 5W-20, more like 20W-50 or a straight grade.

Nah, can punch one out to 7+ liters and almost do that NA.

Sorry two per cylinder but will feel like much more by the time you get to the ones at the back.
