SA itself is better, but go outside of SA into the hill country and its even better. looking at land to retire on right now.

The people saying SA has more history than Nola are trolling or retarted. SA probably cleaner and more family friendly. If you want some night life then Nola is way better. From the museums, plantations, French quarter, cemeteries, etc Nola has tons of great history.

From NOLA and been to San Antonio a few times. Spent almost a week there a few years ago and saw everything.

San Antonio is really nice. Lots to see. New Orleans is better. Don't step foot on Bourbon Street. Nasty. You'll have a better experience.

There is so much more than the French Quarter.

Can't believe this is a serious question. Authentic Mexican food is really good in SA, but the women are fat. Not joking. Plenty more things to do in NOLA

Are you kidding me. New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in the country by far. Many, many buildings are hundreds of years old. Just because you only know to get drunk there doesn't mean the history isn't there.

San Antonio has the Alamo (which is extremely boring) and not much else.

This, and his other post.

SA is not a bad family vacation, but is nothing exciting; its a safer bet. NOLA has a ton to do, and the weather has been great.

It really depends on how you spend your vacations. For nightlife, NOLA is just much better. Much more concentrated areas with tons of restaurants, bars, clubs, nice hotels, etc. If you are more into making plans during the day, SA has a lot to offer.

Come to New Orleans.

Choose NOLA if you want to risk being shot or victimized by some other type of violent crime

New Orleans by far. Tons more history there and in the area than the ity bity Alamo

This. Went to SA for the first time last year and wasn't impressed. I've lived in the N.O. area for 50 years and still get a thrill every time I walk around the French Quarter. So much more to see and do in New Orleans. It's a fantastic city and safety isn't a concern if you exercise the slightest bit of common sense.

Well since New Orleans is known as one of the best cities in the world, I go with New Orleans easily. Unless you want to the Alamo and eat at a Mexican restraint.

I'm actually dumbfounded anyone is saying San Antonio. If he just asked what's better for a vacation, I could understand. But he brought up history and nightlife....the exact things NOLA is known for.

San Antonio is known for the river walk and the Alamo. Also, six flags, some caverns, a waterpark....basically a bunch of things that absolutely don't fall into the OP''s categories.

San Antonio and NOLA were founded the same year (1718) and both have a lot of history and a lot more in common than you think.

San Antonio has a lot more going for it than "just the Alamo" and is often underrated and overlooked. Missions, old Spanish Marketplace, old Pearl Brewery, oldest Cathedral west of the Mississippi (San Fernando), the Riverwalk, birthplace of breakfast tacos, amazing Mexican food, etc.

Yeah, a lot of women there are obese...but that's NOLA, too.

Food- NOLA hands down
Nightlife- NOLA hands down
Culture (not Cultcha) NOLA hands down
History- NOLA easily
Sightseeing- Close, depending what you want to see. SA has more natural scenery. Other than that, NOLA.
Kids- even
Less crime- S.A. But you are still safe in NOLA visiting

And NOLA was one of the largest city in the United States that passed through the hands of several different countries leaving a culture that is unmatched.

The other day I was at my aunts condo in the French Quarter and she was explaining how the building was the home of a baroness and they made it into condos. They can't even paint without approval from the Smithsonian. That's what you take for granted when you walk by to get your beinget's and big as beers.
