Working on a vacation and want to see historical sites and night life. Which city has a better bang for my buck? Leaning towards SA at the moment

You should go to SA. NoLA is piss, bums, and hipsters.

San Antonio. Never been, but I know it's got to be better than the shite and piss barf dump Mitch is running.

New Orleans is a shithole.

Depends...you single? Married? Going with SO or friends?
New Orleans is great for partying and meeting people. SA is more family oriented as far as the touristy stuff

If you truly take New Orleans in for its historical offerings, it's going to blow San Antonio out of the water. But there are drawbacks to New Orleans for sure. San Antonio is a pretty decent family vacation from what I'm told (haven't been since middle school).

What history does San Antonio have? "Here's where some rednecks got killed by Mexicans."

Are you kidding me. New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in the country by far. Many, many buildings are hundreds of years old. Just because you only know to get drunk there doesn't mean the history isn't there.

San Antonio has the Alamo (which is extremely boring) and not much else.

Troll up voting his own post.

The Metairie cemetery alone has more history than SA.

Given the OP's criteria, NOLA blows SA away. Some of y'all just hatin' but let's be honest here.

San Antonio does have a hidden gem... The missions trail national monument. And it's better for outdoorsy stuff in the hill country and New Braunfels.

I'll be honest and admit I simply replied to the title without reading the OP.

Yeah, when it comes to vacations, NOLA has to be in the top 5 in the US. San Antonio sure as shite isn't.

Do the vacation ASAP before it gets obnoxiously hot.

Historical sites and nightlife? There is absolutely no comparison, Nola.

SA sucks for the most part

New Orleans then. SA nightlife isn't bad at all but historically New Orleans is better. People tend to think history in New Orleans is limited to the French Quarter. There is a lot of history in and around the New Orleans.

In New Orleans
-there are a lots of historic neighborhoods, not just the vieux carre.
-Lots of great museums, old buildings, and attractions
Just outside of Nola
-A plethora of plantations to choose from.
-Lots of old US/Confederate forts
-Chalmette battlefield
-Isleno Museum

I love the OT. A great honest informative post gets down voted.
