My son has two pairs of Kobe elite basket ball shoes size 14.
They are in excellent condition. He wore each pair maybe 6 times each only on the basketball court. I looked up what they are going for right now and my jaw dropped:
ETA: IIRC these shoes originally sold for $180 a pair.

I mean, it's true.
Fwiw, most of them don't cost $1,100. They are typically $550-600.
You can sell a 3 year old used pair for $300-400 no problem. You have to trash a 3 year old pair of $150 Nike's.

My sister had me purchase her a pair of the $500 ones because she didn’t want my BIL seeing it on their credit card. When she sent me the order link and I saw them, I immediately texted back that I could probably do a bang up job recreating them from a $10 pair of Walmart tennis shoes. They look as though a homeless person broke them in first.

Zero percent chance I’d let my wife or kid buy that shite for 1100

I’m not comparing prices of footwear with my wife because I’ll lose that one

My wife and daughter now own stock in Betsey Johnson...I am convinced of it.
Silver, gold, black, red...their closets are filled with sequin boots and shoes

Thankfully not. My wife wouldn't spend $1100 on any pair of shoes.

I’m pretty sure their main purpose is so women can show that they can afford to buy ugly shoes for $600. The weird part is that the women that buy them fully acknowledge the absurdity and wastefulness of the purchase but do it anyway in huge numbers.

Looks like my suede Keds my cheap arse parents bought for new school shoes in 1974. They looked like that by April and actually had locked in dogshit on them by the time I got new ones and we finally threw em out. All dogs ran free back then and every yard in the neighborhood had land mines in them. I wanted Adidas dammit.

Every busted Botox 30 plus year old that takes pictures at supper club and thinks they are fancy owns some of those shoes. Poor schlubs that married them.

Nope, too busy buying myself these and they cost way more than those ugly things.
