I was a freshman at LSU getting ready for class in Kirby smith dorm. Very surreal as I watched the second plane fly into tower 2 live. Just one of those things I'll never forget as long as I live.

Also remember getting interviewed by wwl radio asking for opinions on if the LSU auburn game should be cancelled. I agreed that it should be in rememberence and that we could wait to maul auburn later

On my way to my office. The stock exchange got closed down so I sat and watched TV all day long. Not one person called to worry about their money or their stocks that day. The exchange was closed for another few days and I had nothing to do.

My son was a freshman in high school. He'd called home asking me to check him out of school because he was feeling sick. When I got to the school's office, a crowd was gathered, their eyes glued to a TV set. The second plane hit the towers and I didn't comprehend what I was seeing (and I'm not sure if it was a re-play or actually as it happened). Other parents and school staff were crying and someone explained to me that it was a second plane. Drove my son home and then remained glued to the TV, along with the rest of the country and world.

I was in the 4th grade. Our teacher decided not to tell us or show us anything on the news. Heard about it after school and didn't know it was a big deal until my mom came home (works for the Department of Defense) and told me how serious it was. Found out the next day my good friend's brother died in the plane that went down in Pennsylvania.

Muzzle loader season in Saguache, Colorado. Three of us were coming back for a break and were flagged down by a couple of guys that had been driving around and listening to the radio. They were visibly excited and we really didn't understand what the hell had happened until we drove into the nearest town and got better coverage. After that very somber trip, we went home early not feeling much like hunting anymore. Sad day....

In a conference room at work in a meeting that was supposed to last all day. Guy in the control room called to tell us a plane hit the first tower so we put the TV on the news and saw the second plane hit.

Sitting in class. Principal got on the intercom and asked all teachers to come to the gym. 10-15 minutes go by and teachers finally show back up to let us know what was going on. We turned on the news to watch things unfold. One of the scariest things I can remember as a kid. Parents came and picked me up and went straight home.

Copy/pasting my post on the Poli Board...

I was in my apartment in Auburn. Had gotten out of the shower and was checking email/messages and someone had sent me a message on ICQ saying "Turn on CNN, a plane has hit one of the Twin Towers in NYC." I turn the TV on and see the second plane hit.

As things kept happening, with the Pentagon and Flight 93, there seemed to be more and more rumors about targets including places around Atlanta - so I called my mom to make sure she was paying attention. She told me they were following it, and one of the business groups they worked with had a meeting that evening schedule where Prince Andrew was the guest speaker. They had just gotten word that his BA flight had been turned around over the Atlantic and was returning to London.

I also remember worrying about my cousin who was in boot camp at Fort Benning - I knew he was going to get thrown into whatever fight came next, and he did.

The amazing things to me are the little details I remember - like talking to the UPS driver who was making the daily delivery to the bookstore below my apartment, and how quiet people were walking around campus going to classes that were eventually cancelled.

It wasn't until a few weeks later that I found out that a family friend who worked for Cantor-Fitzgerald's Dallas office had been at the home office the week previous, and was actually on the phone with a colleague in New York as things were starting.

Freshman at Tech. First I heard about it was in my English class about an hour after it happened. I had no idea what was going on but the teacher and other students were kinda making side comments about it. Didn't see anything or get any real details until I got back to my dorm. Also, the lovely administration at Tech didn't think 9/11 was worthy of suspending classes for the rest of the day so I couldn't really watch any coverage until later that afternoon.

flying to a rig at 930am. two fighter jets banked on each side of us to turn us around. they were escorting bush's plane from florida to Shreveport in the gulf. so.....when they say that they couldn't scramble jets in time to shoot 93 down at 10:15, I have a hard time believing that.
How long was the flight out to the rig? Not saying this didn't happen, but based on Ari Fleischer's twitter timeline, Air Force One got the call from Cheney in the bunker at 10:32 eastern in which he said the WH switchboard had gotten a message that said "Angel is next" meaning AF1.

The next two entries...
The decision was made that we couldn't return to DC. The plane headed to 45,000 feet and flew in a random, zigzag pattern in the sky.

A fighter escort along with AWACs was supposed to be established. It didn't come together for a long while.

6th grade. They told us what happened that morning, and we talked about it some in class. My teacher was pretty shaken up because she had family in NYC. We got home and my mom was watching the news, which she never did normally. That's when it really sunk in for me, how serious it all was.
