We are a couple in our 30s with a ten month old daughter. We live in the area around Rice University and Rice Village. Love it. Family friendly, yet replete with dining and shopping options. Very short drive from downtown.

How much are you willing to pay for a house? There are decent homes off of dairy ashford near memorial in the 400k range but most need updating.

I like Sugar Land. I can get downtown in 30 minutes in the 7am hour. Getting home is a different story.

No cocktail bars in Kingwood as far as I know. You would think there would be a nice steakhouse or upscale bar considering the area and the demographics, but nada

River Oaks is the best spot to get to downtown. After that everything else is downhill.

I live in Garden Oaks/ Oak Forest and my wife works near the Galleria and I work near Greenspoint, neither of us have longer than a 20 minute average commute. The area is getting pricey but not Heights pricey. Oak Forest Elementary is very good but the high schools need to improve. Otherwise, it's a central location with character that is beginning to be very pricey because current trends have white flight with a round trip ticket in urban everywhere...

Private schools in Houston START at the Episcopal level. Extremely expensive versus LA.

That said, the Woodlands wipes it's arse with every single burb in Houston. Fact. Unless, the commute is a serious constraint.......it's also the furthest.

When Kingwood got annexed by Houston, it suffered greatly.

I know... That's why I'm asking if he'd go. I'm toiling around with opening one.

It depends on what you like. I don't care for the Woodlands. My wife loathes it. Too Disney-fied for her.
