This is an exaggeration unless you tipped 50+%. Link to Menu

I purposely posted the exact place because of people like you.

They charged for cheese. They charged for sauce. They charged for a pretzel bun. They charged for black salt. Literally one thing after another. Tip was 20%.

So just to be clear.

You went there, saw the menu, saw they charged for extras, you opted to add those extras onto your burger knowing there would be an extra cost, and now you're complaining about the cost?

The in restaurant menu did not have prices and also had an elk burger.

But whatever makes you feel better

And yet you posted the exact place "because of people like you" to prove what you paid, but it's not even the right menu apparently?

I mean, I don't really care either way, but it seems strange.

FWIW I wouldn't be pleased paying that much for a couple burgers either, but it seems like you could have easily avoided that.

I work in SF but live in the east bay. We bought a nice house, not as nice as what you'd get in Texas though. My wife and I make over 300k combined and our mortgage is only 3000 a month. We are able to save a ton because of the high salaries here.

According to the article, San Fran is actually one of the best places to live for disposable income AFTER rent is accounted for.

I think you are misreading it. I'm taking it as SF has a lot of stuff to spend your money on after you pay rent if you have anything left. Not that you will make a ton of money in SF and have a ton of money left over after your rent is paid. More like one of the best places to live if you have 'disposable' income after your rent/bills are paid. Also I would assume most don't including savings as 'disposable' income, so I think it is speaking to the people with money to burn. So basically 99% of the OT.

I wonder what percentage of posters who talk about San Francisco around here have actually been there.

I’m guessing about 3.5%.

That’s weird. Here is a picture of the menu taken in the past three months. It pretty explicitly states the price of add-ons and I’m really curious what the hell you added to get to $55+ pre-tip.

I’ll go with 0.350%. They’re going with the Bill O’Reilly thematic version of San Francisco that is largely exaggerated.

I feel like their data are manipulated or just plain wrong in some fundamental way.

Do a search on the renter's website of your choice for SF CA - pretty much everything is 4k a month or more

San Fran has rent control, so it's probably that. New York is the same. You see some article claiming the average rent for a 2BR is $1800, but the truth is anyone moving there is going to be fighting for tiny spaces at $4000 while some old Jewish woman is paying $560 because she moved into her apartment in 1968.
