I grew up in Marietta (went to Lassiter), and now live/work in Alpharetta. Can't go wrong with East Cobb, Roswell, Alpharetta, or John's Creek.

Sandy Springs is nice, but your dollar doesn't go nearly as far there.

Except Sprayberry is no where near the level of an education as Walton, Pope, and Lassiter. They offer more AP classes and have much higher test scores. And your football program is in an awful shape right now and won't get out of that funk any time soon.

They might offer more AP classes, but it isn't like you can't ever find an AP class if you go to Sprayberry. I took like 10 AP classes in high school and I could've easily taken more.

I think it is pretty retarded to spend 100k more on a house because you want your kid to have a bigger selection of AP classes to take in High School. If I'd have gone to Lassiter, I'd have still taken 10 AP classes and gone to the same college. There would have just been way more AP classes I didn't take.

I'm an upper middle-class white kid who is about to graduate college. If I went to Lassiter or Walton, my life wouldn't be any better than it is now... actually it would be worse because my parents would have spent way more on their house...

The same goes for all the upper-middle-class kids at Walton and Lassiter. They all would have done just fine in high school if they went to Sprayberry.

know this kid IRL. he is still bitter because he played on worse sports teams and had a worse education. lassiter >>>>>>> sprayberry. there is literally nothing that makes sprayberry better (obviously) over lassiter or walton. he defends it by acting like it's a bad thing to spend more money on nicer houses in nicer areas.

how long is it taking you to graduate college, just cause im curious? dont talk shite if you aren't ready to bring it.

Yikes. You people are like gang members fighting over turf. Back off the kid. He is entitled to his opinion.

Woodstock too far north for me.

East Cobb are nice burbs.

Historic Marietta is how we compromised. We are like 3/4 mile from the square. Would recommend.

It's rare that you and I agree.

If the OP is set on the burbs, that's a good place to be.

Now, if you are flying around a lot and access to the airport is really important to you, then I'd recommend Historic College Park. Your commute to the office won't be that bad. I live in East Point and used to work at Ashford Dunwoody and 285--that commute wasn't bad. Currently commute to the Cumberland area, very seldom takes more than a half hour.

Long term I'd like to settle ITP or ATP ("At The Perimeter"), though close-in OTP like East Cobb or northern Sandy Springs isn't bad either.

I will be working from home but will have to fly to NC and drive to SC quite a bit. I will still have to go to the office from time to time so we are pretty flexible.

The wife will be staying home with the kid so I am just looking for a nice town, good schools, and a good community. I don't want to admit I want the burbs lifestyle, but I think that is what we are going for.

The most important thing is that you don't need to get on 400 to go to work.

If you're single, live in Buckhead and commute. If you don't plan to stay long on Altanta (can't blame you) move to Dunwoody.

Pretty good advice in here. Alpharetta, East Cobb, Milton, parts of Roswell, JC are all decent.

I'd argue Alpharetta is becoming more hit or miss than before, and Sandy Springs has always been hit or miss.

The 85 corridor sucks, you have to go to Suwanee or Flowery Branch to find livable space. ITP is good but not that convenient, although I do the reverse commute from midtown to SS now and it is decent.

I used to live near Kennessaw Mountain. It was okay....but if I were buying, I'd go a little farther east of that area to the Ga 400 suburbs.

Alpharetta, Roswell, and Johns Creek are mostly nice. I'd try to go with east Cobb depending on where you'll be working. Good luck with Atlanta traffic.....I couldn't stand rush hour there.
