The traffic is my biggest concern because I hate traffic. Honolulu is the worst city in the country or 2nd worst for traffic so I did that for 3 years. I am hoping Atlanta can't be any worse.

My wife might have to commute for the first few months but after that, she will be a stay at home mom.

Roswell, Sandy Springs and Alpharetta are great but they are Fulton County and therefore the taxes are higher and your home prices are higher as well. Plus the schools dont have the reputation the cobb schools do. I've been in East Cobb for 25 years now and its the best bang for the buck with schools, access to highway, taxes and what you get for those taxes. Traffic is going to blow no matter where so get as close to work as possible.

Really just starts with how much you want to pay for a house....

All depends on where you decide to live in relation to your office. I live in the city and drive to work in johns creek everyday so I go against the traffic. Those trying to get into the city from the burbs is typically where you get in trouble.

Sandy springs/dunwoody is probably your best bet... close to your office and can jump on MARTA if needed to get to the airport.

Marginally worse sports teams, though my senior year my baseball team made the elite 8.

No, not really.

There are nice areas in Sprayberry district... like the area I live in. It just costs way less.

4 years, plus one more fall semester where I only need 7 credit hours. Never took summer classes, either. Bet you wish you had another football season, fig.

there is literally nothing that makes sprayberry better (obviously) over lassiter or walton

The only actual difference between sprayberry and those schools is Sprayberry doesn't have as many rich white kids... aka not as many hot white chicks, so I'll concede that. Lassiter is also bigger.

Lassiter/Walton are both better schools than Sprayberry, that isn't up for debate.

It should be. It is a bad point of view to have.

Sprayberry has a lot of students from low-income families who don't give a shite. It also has a good number of students from high-income families that do give a shite. Lassiter/Walton have pretty much all students from high-income families that do give a shite... thats why you perceive those schools as being better.

Lassiter and Walton don't get the #1 pick in the teacher-draft every year, so the quality of teachers is about the same. All the schools get essentially the same annual funding, so no difference there.

No matter what school in EC you go to, if you give a shite... you will most likely end up at UGA or Tech. Or if you can't get in you will go to KSU or Auburn.

I work in Alpharetta but for the schools, low taxes, and a lot of home or land for the money, look in Cherokee county. Plus traffic is on the low side, and easy access to 400 or I-75 to get to Sandy Springs

Like I said, Sprayberry has way more students from low-income families that don't really give a shite. Of course test scores are worse.

High-income families get the false idea that Sprayberry is a bad school, and then they don't move to sprayberry district... so their kids who will end up getting high test scores wherever they go... go to Lassiter/Walton. My parents didn't. I'm doing fine. But if I went to Lassiter or Walton I'd probably be at Harvard right now.

Did Sprayberry go down hill????? I graduated from Sprayberry in 1990 with 750 kids in the graduating class. Pretty average bunch of people. I live in the Walton District now and its easy to see that they have just always had money at that school because it serves the people that have homes closer to the chattahoochee river/ Paper Mill area and borders Roswell. You are close to the Roswell/Sandy Springs experience with Cobb taxes.

It depends what you mean by downhill. If you think having some poor students who don't care about learning at all makes the school itself bad, then sure. My graduating class in 2010 had 399 students. Kell was created and took a bunch of students from Sprayberry.

The actual quality of the school isn't any worse. It is probably actually better than it was in 1990 because East Cobb has gotten wealthier over the time period and more tax-funding naturally comes.

But there are way more poor people at the school. I'd say like 50-60% of the school is black/latino/another minority. Naturally, the SAT scores/GPAs at Sprayberry are way worse than at Lassiter or Walton where 90% of the students are from upper-middle class families.

The other 40%-50% of students at Sprayberry is pretty much just like Lassiter or Walton, mostly upper middle class white kids who want to go to UGA and who do well on the SATs.

Sports-wise.... When I was in high school, the football team made the playoffs 3 times and beat lassiter twice (would have won a third time when Lassiter muffed a punt in the end zone and we recovered, but high school rules count that as a touchback... still bitter). We made the playoffs every year in baseball except for my freshman year, a season that we started 18-0 and were the number one team in the state, then choked at the end of the year. Our basketball team is pretty good every year, always better than lassiter and pope. My brother told me that this year they are doing amazing. Lacrosse is nowhere near lassiter/Walton, but they are usually average. Soccer is a joke.

I understand your perspective fine, you attended Sprayberry and seem to think it is on par with some of the best schools in the county, which it isn't. You said it yourself, it has a significant amount of low income families that Walton and Lassiter do not have. That makes it a worse school, what do you not understand about that.

I'm not even trying to hate on Sprayberry, I was friends with plenty of people who went there and have no issues with it. It just isn't as good a school as Walton or Lassiter (which I didn't attend either btw).
