There is no such thing as opening too early. The antibody studies show that this thing is much more widespread than official test results show and has been here longer. We need more access to these tests and we need to open up as soon as possible. People at high risk can remain self quarantined should they feel it necessary and we should do what we can to monitor and help nursing homes.

Take out food is not safe. It baffles me how people think it’s safe to pick up food from restaurants. I support keeping a local economy but I was in the biz for 20 years.
Do you know what goes on in most kitchens?

Not really
They are trying to keep the same nurse / CNA on the same hall but as soon as someone doesn’t show another person has to fill in so they are now cross contaminating 2 halls
Or the admin person that helps serve meals because of staffing issues that has to meet with other admins & residents
Or the maintenance person that goes into every room to change bulbs or clean air conditioning filters
They are doing everything they can & if they hadn’t taken the steps they did take it could easily be much worse but there is no way to keep it 100% out

Just went to the gas station, and had 6 people within an arms reach of me. Sad, because we can’t trust the moronic public to protect themselves, so the government treats us like infants

Wouldn’t that more align with these people building herd immunity? You have to live life at some point here.

Yep. Fortunately for us "majority" of our residents are doing ok. 4 deaths, 7 in the hospital (2 per family request) but 5 of those are holding their own. MANY MANY positives but we do have some who've not gotten it as of now.

What general area are you in? We have/had several employees with it -- I'm working from home so I'm not sure about symptoms or not but I know that two were running fever adn that triggered a test adn one had taste issues.
We do have one employee on a vent -- kitchen staff. She's a good lady and worker and I'm super sad for her.

Agree. I've gotten takeout 3 times since March 11. They've all been in the last week and a half. But I take everything out of the containers and heat up in the oven and then put on plates.

Louisiana.
My last day in the facility was 3/10. On 3/11 NO ONE was allowed in except for employees, lab and xray techs. A week prior to that we had screenings and limited visiting hours.
We do have a couple that go to dialysis -- they don't go, they die so they go (can't be done in our home). Who knows what he could have brought back. But other than that they're locked down.
I don't think that they could have done anything different. They closed before we were told to. They set up an iso wing. First temp got a resident swabbed and I think that was on 4/4 with the result taking like 4 or 5 days but the resident went into is when a temp was detected.
It's hard -- people have been moved into iso, out of iso after 10 or so days (don't know if they reswabbed or not) -- families can't visit -- they're not supposed to leave their rooms. That's an awful lot of change for little people, especially the disoriented, demented ones.

Yes, but that was not the question asked.
We need to reopen at this point because IMHO we are just setting ourselves up for a much larger fall outbreak.
You can not cure the virus by quarantine, it was about not overunning hospital capacity but that now that has been accomplished it seems the usual suspects want to change the narrative but cant yet define their goals.
