1. They're lightning bugs not fireflies.

2. They're all at my house. Come over and I'll give you as many as you want.

We have them in my yard in Denham all the time. We put the kibosh on spraying for skeeters, and are reaping the benefits…West Nile and lightning bugs.

When I lived in the woods in the middle of nowhere NWLA river bottoms I used to see fireflies along the spring fed creek tree line. Place was a long way in both time and distance from bug spraying.

But yeah it’s been like 40 years since I saw any in the suburbs any of the many places I lived.

We vacation at a resort in WV and they are plentiful there. When my son was younger he was playing at dusk and they started lighting up all around him and it freaked him out.

That sounds like the title of a song on a female lead singer of a rock group.

I was catching fireflies with my kids a couple weeks ago in Georgia. It’s amazing how excited they get when it was so common to me as a kid.

We have a lot. But, mosquito authority and all those other businesses are causing issues.

Funny how it does nothing to love bugs and June bugs.

They are very plentiful up in Tennessee.

Especially out in the boondocks where we have hay fields and grazing land and monocultural yards or golf courses.
Weed fields and hay fields are prime habitat. And they ultimately make tasty beef.

More likely habitat loss is the reason and not pesticides
