Even the worst one is infinitely smarter than I am so I’d use whichever one your friend’s primary care doctor recommends and just feel them out to see how they are.

I went to Friedman about 10 years ago. Not sure if he is still working in the NOLA area but he was very good.

Dr Edward Haight in Houma is my neurologist. Very good. Brad Bartholomew in New Orleans is an excellent neurosurgeon.

Do not discount the value of proximity. NOLA, BR, Northshore all have quality Neurologists and Neurosurgeons. You don't have to pick someone 60+ miles away and spend hours driving back and forth for testing, appointments, procedures and possibly hospital stays for what one person may consider a marginally better physician.

In NOLA you can go see the Culicchia Group, EJ has a solid neuro group and so does Ochsner. On the Northshore you've got Neurocare of Louisiana (Ramy El Khoury) and Paradigm. And in Baton Rouge you have the Nueromedical Center (Oberlander, Bowie). Oberlander also goes to Covington.

Ochsner Neuro is fantastic. They will be expanding soon. A lot of people get pushed there. If you're talking brain tumors etc. Not sure about stuff like spine surgeries.

Thank you all for the feedback.

The initial consultation is this week with Benjamin Brown at Ochsner in Covington.
I will share with them the others in the area if a second opinion is warranted.

My wife had a brain aneurysm repaired by Dr Frank Cullichia at West Jefferson in Marrero. I have nothing but good things to say about him and his clinic.

I don't know if Dr Isaza is still doing it, but about 15 years ago when I lived in BR he pushed me to avoid surgery and I eventually got to the point where I'm pain free with 2 broken vertebrae and a third smashed all to hell. I appreciate that a surgeon advised me to make surgery the absolute last option.

My cousin goes to Dr. Plantz for his fibromyalgia treatment. He says the doc always “hooks it up” with the medicine

Also him and the other guys like his name because the plants are who they’re suing for their work injuries
